Last week in Vancouver with my love @elroo was very fun! Walked a ton, was rained on, drank great coffee, ate great food, had a few tasty beers (@superfluxbeer is pretty remarkable!), bought some records at the great @audiopile_, bought some fuzz from @uniontubeandtransistor, saw some art @vanartgallery and @polygongallery, visited some pals, observed some weird fishes and finally saw @thebrianjonestown.

Artist Statement

In darkness, light takes on new meaning—softening the edges of perception, inviting wonder, stillness, and connection. Only in Dark the Light is a quiet exploration of sensory experience, a space to slow down, breathe, and simply be.

Rooted in the principles of Multi-Sensory Environments (MSEs)—spaces designed to foster sensory engagement—this work reframes their therapeutic function through an artistic lens. Projected light paintings—created from hand-painted 35mm slides and layered focal distortions—become static images within translucent lightboxes, snapshots of a shifting installation. Video installations synchronize in-camera imagery with binaural beats and sound frequencies, while a slow-turning chandelier of crystals—an interpretation of the mirrorball—scatters shifting constellations of light.

Neither wholly immersive nor passive, these works create space rather than fill it—holding a tension between structure and dissolution, stillness and motion. The works are adaptable, shaped by their environment and those who engage with them. Sound resonates beyond the audible, and colour moves beyond the fixed image. Above all, Only in Dark the Light is an invitation to experience—without analysis, without expectation. To let light and sound settle in the body, to notice the subtle shifts in perception, to find moments of quiet attunement. In the dark, the light abounds.

Friends! I made a music video! With @thegarrysband ! It was my first video, my first video project pretty much. And I was so lucky to be able to work with the best cast and crew. Everyone helped make the day such a fun and memorable experience. Big thanks to the @thegarrysband and @krawchuksteph for the support, trust and encouragement throughout the whole process 💕

Wow…. What a crazy amazing weekend! I got to marry my absolute best friend Lindsey Roo (@elroo) in front of a pile of the best people around! I feel I’m drowning in love at the moment! An enormous thanks to our families who helped us pull off the crazy task of coordinating and catering our wedding!

Our amazing pals who, learned songs they love, songs they didn’t, climbed sketchy ladders, carried heavy things, carried light things, took photos of us, plonked flowers in vases, made signage, made sure we had rice, made sounds, made sounds sound good, ran cables, made our wedding legal, made beer, found random documents, said nice words, sewed things, poured drinks, created drinks, drank drinks, ate food, clapped when it was needed, heckled when it was required, celebrated, told us when we were wrong, encouraged us when we were right, supported us during the planing, supported us during our 12 year courtship, sent us love in anyway possible….

Our hearts are beyond swollen! We feel so unbelievably lucky to have the family and friends we have! We never take any of you for granted. Thank you for lifting us up and making us better people! We love you all! I’m sorry if we weren’t able to visit as much as we would have liked on Saturday, it’s was a whirlwind and we were stuck in the heart of a crazy wild pinball machine full of your love! Love you all!! ❤️ Thank you!!!!!
