UPDATE: From some of the feedback I’ve gotten in the comments it seems like some people have had some wildly different experiences and the restaurant might be experiencing inconsistency issues/growing pains. I’ve tagged them in hopes that they can use this feedback to grow and improve.

One of LA’s best tacos just got its first brick & mortar spot! El Ruso, known for their Sonoran-style tacos, has moved into the old Roadside Tacos spot in Studio City. I always loved this space because of how good it is for big groups, and now that the food has gotten an upgrade, this is going to be a go-to big group hangout for me for sure!

The best things I ate in September across Los Angeles (plus a little bit of Iceland and Scotland)!

1. Delicious tacos have taken over the old roadside tacos space making this a GREAT spot for groups.
2. The Icelandic version of a cinnamon roll, pizza-fied!
3. As a snack wrap lover, the Chain elevated take on one was a real treat.
4. Fall ice cream flavors are my FAVORITE and this sundae was delicious.
5. This seasonal pasta from one of my favorite spots was delish!!
6. The entire Biscoff menu 🤌
7. These wings were my unexpected highlight at this Persian favorite
8. Delicious garlic shrimp from a Cambodian seafood shack 🤌
9. This viral Icelandic bakery lived up to the hype.
10. Just a very good white pizza 🍕

The California Dog is here! Thing all the fixings of a Cali Burrito, except on a hot dog instead of wrapped up in a tortilla and using @elrusola Carne Asada.

We are all well caffeinated thanks to what feels like 100 new coffee spots. The good news is some great new places to actually eat are open or coming soon to the valley. Which are you most excited for? Comment👇

EL RUSO TAQUERIA
After more than 15 years of serving some of Los Angeles’ most celebrated tacos on the street, El Ruso has opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant in Studio City.

ALTO
The new hotspot in Studio City draws inspiration from the cultures of Uruguay and Argentina with a contemporary twist. The dishes are crafted using traditional open-fire cooking techniques from South America, complemented by locally sourced ingredients from California farms.

SUMI SUSHI
A modern fusion style Japanese restaurant, featuring sushi and much more in Sherman Oaks.

POPUP BAGELS
The Studio City concept is intentionally simple: no sandwiches, no menus full of options. Just bagels, fresh out of the oven, served hot and whole. Started on the east coast so maybe the bagels have some hope.

ESCUELA TAQUERIA
Escuela Taqueria coming soon in Sherman Oaks is known for putting a creative spin on Mexican classics, with tacos, burritos, tostadas, nachos, house-made guacamole, fresh salsas and plenty of sides. The first location on Beverly Blvd is an area favorite.

A NAMELESS FRENCH PLACE
A new Sherman Oaks spot is in the works, and this one comes with a serious pedigree: a collab between the owner of Crema Sherman Oaks and Chef Ludo of Petit Trois. Billed as a Parisian deli, details on this one are still emerging.
