Unfortunately we've had to cancel the forthcoming Church Andrews & @mattdaviesdrums gig we had lined up at @pinkmcr_ @kirk_barley (aka Church Andrews) has recently undergone knee surgery & the recovery period is longer than initially expected. Apologies to those looking forward to the gig. We all tried our best to rearrange the gig for later in the year / early next year but we couldn't find a date that worked for everyone involved. Customers will receive a face value refund within the next 3 working days. You do not need to contact Skiddle as this will be processed automatically onto the card you originally paid with. You will also receive an automated email once the face value refund has been processed. In the meantime we wish Kirk well with his recovery & look forward to seeing him, Matt & @elsahewittx perform at some point in the future.

Revisit Sonic Minds at our Decade of Wonder. Sonic Minds is an initiative created through a collaboration between Wonderfruit and MSCTY_Studio, bringing together musicians, artists and practitioners to explore the intersection of sound, mindfulness, and nature through collaborative projects, experiments and performances. At Wonderfruit 2025, these ideas took shape across The Fields through sound installations and performances. At Forest Stage, Enfold and other spaces in The Fields, artists came together for live performances shaped by collaboration, place and the landscapes around them. Featuring Yumiko Morioka, Kirk Barley, Elsa Hewit and Mark de Clive-Lowe with MSCTY_Studio’s Nick Luscombe and James Greer, a selection of performances from our 10th edition can now be experienced in full. 🔗 Watch the Sonic Minds live performances on our YouTube channel. LIVE MUSIC! We have two more amazing shows coming to York this autumn 🍂 13 October: Elsa Hewitt + Kirk Barley - Double Headline Show Two of the UK’s most inventive electronic artists are heading to the Angel this October!  Elsa Hewitt is a producer and songwriter whose intuitive, offbeat approach blends dream-pop, ambient and electronica into hypnotic, self-sampled soundscapes... glistening, elusive, and built from her own recorded world. www.elsahewitt.com   Kirk Barley (aka Church Andrews) is a Yorkshire-born composer and sound artist.

As Barley, he creates organic works from field recordings, instrumental fragments, and found sounds. His compositions often resemble sonic dioramas, with layered textures that unfold and invite exploration.

As Church Andrews, he explores rhythm-focused music, using digital synthesis and algorithmic techniques.

Across both projects, his work channels Jazz, Minimalism, Post Rock, and Hip-Hop, folding irregular rhythms, evolving temporalities, and alternate tunings into dynamic sonic landscapes.

Kirk has performed across the UK, Europe, and Canada, And his music has been released on labels such as Accidental, Odda, 33-33, and his own Health imprint. Expect an evening of immersive, boundary-pushing sound from two artists at the top of their craft. 10 November: Sam Moss + Sofa Sofa Details on next slide! 🎟️ Tickets in bio! 🖼️ by @dogeatcog & Robyn (aged 15) #yorkevents #yorkgigs #gigsgigsgigs #elsahewitt #livemusicyork 10 November: Sam Moss + Sofa Sofa Live at Angel on the Green, York Angel on the Green welcomes Sam Moss to York as part of his UK tour - a Virginia-based songwriter and fingerstyle guitar player whose latest album Swimming has been acclaimed by publications like Uncut, No Depression, and Aquarium Drunkard. Updated line up! We now have @slurp_the_band joining us on Friday 14th August! Get your tickets now. Autonomy is a night that celebrates grassroots music, run by musicians and held at our wonderful local grassroots music venue, @thefulfordarms - heaven knows what we’d do without the Fully! Supporting our nights and in general, grassroots music is more important now than ever before. Top artists and ticket providers will charge you the price of a holiday to see them, using dynamic pricing and all sorts of sharky tactics to drain the money out of the music well. While this happens to benefit the big names in the short run, the next era of music, the future gems, or the local legends are taken from. The local venues and musicians are taken less seriously than those at the top. And why? Because the industry has conditioned us that way. Have you ever been to an open mic and seen someone do something that Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran can’t do? I bet you have. Why should we accept this? We shouldn’t, which is why we keep doing what we do best, running affordable nights of high quality music at the best venue in town. For £7 you can see @izzyhartleymusic @elsahewittx @slurp_the_band and @barnyskinner play their most intimate sets, up close. Come and support us, and have a great night while you’re at it! Doors are at 6:30pm - ticket link in our bio and stories

WE ARE WORKING ON REARRANGING THE GIG & HOPE TO CONFIRM THE NEW DATE SOON. THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE & WE WISH KIRK A SPEEDY RECOVERY ❤ We are delighted to announce our next live event will feature 3 very special acts. Electronic/percussion duo Church Andrews & @mattdaviesdrums bring their excellent live show to the splendid surroundings of @pinkmcr_ this October. Their latest record together, the magnificent 'Tilt' LP (available now through @odda_recordings ), showcases what the pair do so well; combining virtuoso percussive practice & off-kilter synthesis. The resulting sound is a hybrid mix of skewed microtonal & discordant compositions. Two more Passing Element favourites @elsahewittx & @kirk_barley complete the lineup. So come & join us for what promises to be another excellent evening. Tickets are on sale now through Skiddle.com (link in @passingelement bio).

🚨 Autonomy 8 is live and on sale now! And it’s an Acoustic special! 🚨 We’ve got some amazing acts joining us on Friday 14th August, some of York’s familiar faces and some special guests from afar! Ticket link is live in our bio now! As always, this is a DIY show with all profits going directly to the acts, so by buying an advanced ticket at £7 (plus booking fee), you are helping to keep live music alive and supporting your local music venue! Izzy Hartley A dynamic performer with heartfelt and honest songs, clever lyrics and hooks aplenty. The Pennydrops’ lead singer heads up this Autonomy line up with a special solo performance. Izzy has a string of new songs to share with us, each as haunting and endearing as each other. With a warm, but powerful vocal, somehow jazzy but also grungy arrangements, Izzy’s songs will grab you by the heartstrings. Elsa Hewitt Combining Math-Folk and Ambient music, Elsa’s songwriting knows no bounds. A musical genius who plunges audiences into a trancelike state. Expect atmosphere, emotion and musical mysticism. Each song is a journey, and each story is a treasure. the FOLK DRAMA the FOLK DRAMA are Aaron from Edinburgh & Violeta from LA. They met at a Glasgow pub on Christmas Day 2024. They quickly discovered a shared love of The Beach Boys, Arthur Lee & Pavement and agreed to form a band. Cash was tight and they moved into a flat together in the west end of Glasgow where the FOLK DRAMA songs were written and demoed on an iPhone. They emerged from said bedsit with a completed new sound. Their debut EP ‘Not in the next life’ was released on Assai/VF records on 20th April this year. Barndancer A debut solo show for Barndancer, a singer songwriter based in York whose songs combine late 90s Indie/Alternative with Folk/Americana. His lyrics are smart, his guitar playing is sharp and his sets are full of earworms. The perfect opener for this acoustic showcase!
