Chile Relleno Burrito with Carne Asada from @elviejonpdx

Have you ever had your life changed by a burrito?
Would you like to?

Hyperbole aside, this is one of the greatest things I have ever eaten in my life. Chile Relleno burritos are my holy grail, my rosebud. Few places do them. When done right, they can be transcendent, life changing even. This is the best one I've had in my life.

The chile itself was full of flavor with just a touch of heat. Stuffed with mozzarella and battered to perfection, light and fluffy. The flavor of the batter is key to a good chile relleno. Secondly this carne asada was fantastic. Really deep, rich, smoky flavors. It tastes a lot like the Tacos Fita version, which is my fave in town. The balance of flavors between the chile and the meat really levels up the burrito. Each would be great on their own, but they form like Voltron here. The rice, beans and tortilla were fantastic, the pico and guacamole were fresh, bright, tangy and delicious. And for an additional bonus, this burrito was the approximate size, shape and weight of a standard NFL football. Quality over quantity all day, but here you get both.

I literally had to pause halfway in eating this burrito to count my blessings that I live in one of the best food cities in the world.

Looking for dog-friendly things to do in Portland, Oregon? 🐶🌲

THIS is a Portland dog-friendly staycation itinerary for your next weekend staying in ‼️

We brought our rescue pup Pasa along for her FIRST hotel stay, and somehow turned 24 hours into a full Portland adventure.

• The Hoxton Portland 🏨
A boutique hotel in Old Town/Chinatown that currently welcomes dogs with no additional dog fee. Dog beds, food bowls and water bowls are also available with advance notice 🐾

•Jakarta Bistro 🍛
We stopped for food and enjoyed their pet-friendly patio

•Brujos + El Viejón Tacos y Mariscos 🍺
Craft beer + Mexican tacos and mariscos in one stop

•Tope 🍹
The Hoxton’s rooftop taqueria with tacos, cocktails and Portland views

•Deadstock Coffee ☕
A Portland coffee staple located right in The Hoxton lobby, open early for your caffeine fix

• Orox Leather Co. 👜
Our local shopping stop for a purse and wallet and a little Hispanic Heritage Month celebration

This is your sign that a Portland staycation, dog-friendly hotel, local restaurants, Portland coffee shop and shopping day can all happen without leaving the city 💖

Now save this for later and tell me where Pasa should go next! 🐾 🐕

Thank you for having me @thehoxtonhotel

🌮 DAY 3 OF TACO MANIA 🌮

📍@elviejonpdx absolutely nailed it.

Hidden inside @brujos_brewing , this place has one of the coolest dungeon-style brewery vibes around. 🍺🕯️ Great tacos, killer beer, awesome patio, and a fun crowd.

The artwork on the beer cans is 🔥. As a huge @thebandghost fan, I was geeking out over those designs.

If you're looking for a spot to grab tacos, slam some pints, play some games, and kick back with good people... El Viejon is absolutely worth the stop. 🌮🍻

Every restaurant has a story🌮🦐🌯🐟🇲🇽

We had the opportunity to sit down with Eldy Prado and meet the team behind El Viejón to learn how it all started, what drives them, and the passion that’s gone into building what is now three locations across the PNW.

Huge thanks to the El Viejón team for welcoming us in!

First time at @brujos_brewing with my wife @neverendingbliss. To no surprise they are serving phenomenal beer and fantastic tacos from @elviejonpdx! We loved the dark, gothic, metal vibe here as well. Also enjoyed the death metal music to complete the ambiance. Reminded me of the now closed Dark Bar in Seattle and in a way felt like seeing an old friend. Definitely check this out if you love good beer, tasty tacos and gothic decor. We will be back for more liquid spells.
