Super nice surprise meet up at the darkroom yesterday between @stigmw and @elyssaiona !
Elyssa was there with friend and darkroom member @sanna.charles when she pointed to the bookshelf and the @experimentalphotofestival catalogue from 2020 saying that her photo was in that one. She was one of the first exhibitors at the festival and we urged her to consider returning to the festival again.
Elyssa used to run the DIYDarkroom in Australia and was super happy to get to stopover in the dark while travelling and visiting her friend in Oslo.
And we were happy to meet her!

Incredibly proud of this record and how it happend. Written in no time. One the best, easiest studio sessions ever. And hey, didn’t take us five years and we didn’t record it more than once either. Enjoy it if you can!

BLESSINGS release new album “Blodsträngen”

Blodsträngen, which translates literally as ‘The Bloodline’, is another bracing evolution of Blessings’ truly inimitable sound; pushing the band’s percussive and found-sound textural elements even further to embrace a wild sonic palette that blends modular synths with crushing guitar feedback and even the occasional cowbell.

Blodsträngen is Blessings fine-tuning their deliberately dissonant sound whilst simultaneously casting their net wide for ever more left-field, experimental influences; a disparate collection of idiosyncrasies that the band somehow manage to pull into something cohesive, captivating and empowering. The band leave the messages and meanings behind their music open to interpretation as a means of sharing this attitude of openness with their audience because, when all is said and done, all that matters is all playing disgustingly loud music together in a room.

🎧 Hit the link in bio to stream / download / order the album

@blessingsgbg
@pelagic_records

Went to a wicked exhibition in my new fav store

Hovered awkwardly for a bit, bought some cool stuff, did some late night thrifting, came home & did some noise noodling, posted some stuff.

Not bad for a Thursday night

For anyone I’ve forgotten to tell, I’m now back in Melbourne for good. 👋🏻

Our new single ”No good things” are out now on all streaming platforms. It’s the second single from our upcoming album “Blodsträngen”.

This was the first track we write for this album and in many ways it represent everything I love about playing with @blessingsgbg . A willingness to push what we do, not by veering off the path suddenly but by incorporating new elements slowly and deliberatly, expanding what we do instead of changing what we do. There’s also a level of trust and respect between us all (both musically and individually) that I value highly and which is something which means the world to me. I’m truly grateful for being a part of @blessingsgbg

A lovely workshop yesterday with @orrin.pierre and @elyssaiona, who both produced some great tintypes and ambrotypes.

Good to meet you both, and well done on producing some great images.

Super excited to be joining forces with the @alphavillegigs Alphaville team to treat Manchester with this stellar gig.

Tix are super affordable, link in bio.

Let’s give Manchester gem Giulio the hometown welcome back he deserves!

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Dubbed-to-death post-punk rough ’n tumble from Manc-in-Brussels Giulio Erasmus.

Erasmus (also of DUDS / Handle) released an out of the blue future classic earlier this year with Second Attempt, a home-brewed freeform take on classic sound-system inspired post-punk. Low-slung, strafing bass riffs, scorched dead-pan vocals, brittle percussion and a heavy drenching of delay. Erasmus leaves all the entrails in, the looping feedback tails, mangled spliced vocals and heavily affected radio static - It’s flailing yet cooly controlled. On first listen, the list of people that are instantly catapulted to mind is endless - On-U sound, Monokultur, Holy Tongue, Liquid Liquid, General Strike, EP-4, etc etc. But for us (OBVIOUS bias here) it feels very Manc. An inventive modern facelift on various stylistic traits we’ll never tire of - All Night Flight Records

Support from @6a6y_6 mega babes Beau Mec, @___fffinos and Ned Ludd ft members of The Welly House Band

New addition to next weeks line up- the captivating @kprw.011 will be joining us!

kaprow is an experimental producer and performance artist, pushing the limits of sound by implementing elements of kinetic home-made samples and ephemeral synthetic soundscapes to create music that attempts to transcend time and space.
