Almost daily, I ask myself...

“Am I a good mom?”🤷‍♀️

Some days it’s easy to only see the hard parts, the mistakes, the worries, the moments I wish I’d handled differently.

But every now and then, God gives me what I call a **glimpse**.

A little reminder.
A little blessing.
A little whisper that maybe... just maybe... something is sticking.

This morning I woke up to both of my boys, (19 and almost 16), for absolutely no reason, writing my partner and me the sweetest notes.

That’s what I call a glimpse.

A reminder that love is growing, even when you can’t always see it.💗

So today I’m holding onto this one.🪩🪩🪩

If you’re in a season of wondering if you’re doing enough, keep looking for the glimpses. They’re often quiet, unexpected, and easy to miss... but they’re there. 🤗🫶

P.S. Before anyone says anything about the spelling... 💙 The top note was written by my 19-year-old son, who has dyslexia and the biggest, most loving heart. To me, those words are absolutely perfect.

“The End.”
Those are the last words in the book...📕

But they’re only the beginning of Mannie’s story. 🪩💓

My hope is that this story helps children (and adults, too), move-through big feelings, dream big, and “Find their Thing”.

This may be the end of the book...

But it’s only the beginning of the adventure. 🎉🦣

For years, I wasn’t sure if I should share this part of our story publicly…

But I’m learning in this season of life that being real and raw is exactly where I’m supposed to be. For myself and my family.

My middle kiddo is 19 years old. He’s funny, kind, stubborn, creative, a fantastic dancer, and one of the greatest gifts God ever gave me. ♥️🙏

He’s also gay.

He was 12 when he came out. I remember the conversations. The emotions. The questions. The moments where I wanted to have all the answers and realized I didn’t.

And if I’m being completely honest, I remember the hurt.

The challenges my son and our family has gone through has been downright cray-cray at times. 💔

The judgment. The assumptions. The comments made behind our backs and sometimes right to our faces. I never want anyone to ever experience that type of pain.

Some of the deepest wounds didn’t come from strangers.
They came from people we love. ☹️

But when you’ve experienced that kind of rejection, something shifts….
You stop spending so much energy worrying about what everyone thinks.
You learn that peace is more valuable than approval. ☮️
And you learn that love matters more than being understood. Love is everything! Love, love, love!

It was never not a choice to not love and support our son. Ever.

As many of you know, I’ve spent the last few years creating Mannie. 🪩🪩 At the heart of Mannie is a simple message: feel the funk, feel your feelings, and keep dancing through life’s ups and downs. 🎢

This month, I’m sharing a few pieces of that Topsy-Turvy journey. Not because I have all the answers, but because maybe another parent needs to know they’re not alone. 💗

And maybe someone else needs to hear this today:
You matter exactly as you are!
I’m here PM me or whatever if you need a listening ear. 👂

#proudmama @blakemcgrath thank you for sharing your story and love for God.

Update! Tomorrow the 𝓕𝓮𝓮𝓵 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓕𝓾𝓷𝓴, 𝓕𝓮𝓮𝓵 𝓨𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓕𝓮𝓮𝓵𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 merch officially drops online 💥🪩✨

ANDDDD you’ll be seeing a whole lot more of us in real life this summer…festivals, pop-ups, random dancing, hugs, probably over-sharing… the usual. 😂

This next chapter feels less “online business” and way more human connection business. If you know my hubs @tapleymatthew and I, you know we genuinely love people, conversations, community, and making strangers feel like old friends. So honestly… festivals just feel right. 💓

Book update:
The FOURTH (and final-final-final 🤞🏼😂) copy was ordered last night. There’s been a very thin line between “making it great” and “spiraling trying to make it perfect,” but Mannie keeps lovingly reminding me:
“this little project will never be perfect… and honestly that’s kind of the whole message.” 🪩

Also… shoutout to the people lovingly holding me accountable to this dream. Some of y’all have been on this six-year rollercoaster 🎢 with me and I genuinely love you for sticking it out 😂💛 @tapleymatthew @vickimuchesko @michellecabazet @em.joy_ @tiffanylcampbell @model4allmagazine @lavamoon @_kobi.d @tessmarieartistry @manniethedancingmammoth

Can’t wait to see y’all this summer.
Come say hi. Come dance. Come feel your feelings with us. 🪩

XOXOXO,
Allyson + Mannie

Wait… where is my Mannie book though!?! 😂
3rd and hopefully last draft is on its way!

Dance is how I process life. The highs, the lows, all of it! After all, it’s a Topsy-Turvy life! 🎢 Sometimes I wanna rush life… like this dance (it’s a FAST 🏎️ one). 🪩
Going on five years of a vision that is slowly coming to life. Staying in the present is really hard for me, but I’m learning and trying every day! 🙏

Thank you @therealjordangrace for this choreography & making it possible to learn online from one oldie 👵 trying to keep up!!! 😂🤪🤗💓

Couldn’t find my pink ballet shoes…Pink Converse it is. 🩰😂
Because dancing for joy doesn’t require the “right” shoes…or perfect technique. It just requires a heart to dance! 🪩

P.S. The Feel the Funk Collection is coming soon! Yippie!
