Women’s 6K Recap

Competing in their first 6K race of the season, the Falcon women finished 12th overall with 360 points and averaged 25:53 per runner.

Sophomore Kennedy Flores led Daytona State with a personal-best performance of 24:27.8, placing 68th overall. Flores battled through the challenging terrain and steadily moved through the field during the second half of the race. She came through the 5K checkpoint in a season-best 5K split before continuing to push over the final kilometer and finishing with an almost two-minute personal best at the 6K distance. Her ability to continue moving up throughout the race demonstrated both her toughness and continued development as the postseason nears.

The Falcons’ lineup included:

Kennedy Flores – 68th, 24:27.8 (PR)
Emma Turner – 73rd, 24:34.5 (SB)
Kylee Lokensgard – 79th, 26:42.6 (PR)
Rihanna Kamel – 80th, 26:46.4 (PR)
Keria Galan – 82nd, 26:54.4 (PR)
Kyleigh Halloran – 27:12.4 (SB)

The Falcon women responded well to the 6k distance, producing four personal-best performances and two season-best efforts. The team also earned a head-to-head victory over a nationally ranked NAIA program, demonstrating its ability to compete with quality four-year competition. Just as encouraging was the way the women competed together, tightening their team spread and working off one another throughout the race.
