POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Sobre Mesa - In The Kitchen playlist is a sonic journey curated by @iamatpik for the first edition of the SPACES Magazine Culinary Cover, featuring Nick Hamman & Lady Day.

Sobre Mesa lives in the space between the last bite and the first goodbye.

It is inspired by the conversations that linger around the table long after a meal has ended, when plates are cleared but stories continue unfolding, when strangers become familiar and familiar faces reveal something new.

The food nourishes the body, conversation feeds the mind, and the music drifts between them both, adding texture, memory, and feeling to the experience.

Curated from a selection of alternative South African artists, Sobre Mesa moves through sounds that are intimate, intentional, culturally rooted, and quietly experimental.

A soundtrack for the moments that refuse to end.
For slow conversations, shared meals, and the beauty of lingering.

Sound checking. | It’s really just me, my tracksuit, and the village holding me down on the bandstand against the world on show days. 🙈

I’m SO EXCITED that we get to do what we love once again this THURSDAY at JAZZ AT THE BIOSCOPE! Please help us move these last remaining tickets. I’ve obviously already summoned Bokoena ba Nkopane. Over to YOU, my people. Ka lerato hle, 🫵🏽🕯️.

If you need a little more nudging to sway you into heading over that link in my bio, I’ll be live here on IG tomorrow evening with @yourfriendofjazz to chat more about the show, what to expect and why you absolutely should not miss it. More details tonight. ♥️

Ticket link in my bio. We’re still on tour! Qalong! 🥹🕯️

The shared listening experience. The conversations over the music. The thoughtful and curious questions from the audience. The stripped down performance w/my 1/1 producer and collaborator, @emamkay. I could go on and on! Everything was just perfect.

Listening sessions are SO back and I personally LOVE to see it. What an incredible experience. 😍🙌🏽

Thank you to everyone single one of you who braved the cold on a weekday and showed LOVE! ♥️💫

What an incredible time I’ve been having sharing this music with my people. Thank you for receiving me with such beautiful and open hearts.

The Chant Song becoming a firm favorite warms my heart. ❤️

See you tonight at 10PM on the Main Stage. #QALOAlbumTour

Every now and then, a record comes along that reminds us why we started this label.
Not because it follows a formula, but because it follows an idea.
If I Had a Band runs for eleven minutes. Long enough to forget about skipping tracks. The kind of record you put on, settle into, and let unfold.
Hear Daev Martian tell the story behind the record.
If I Had a Band feat. EMAMKAY is out now!
