CHIPS ARE DOWN (๑ᵕ⌓ᵕ̤) 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

untold origin story: the title/theme of this record came from a night at @eastsidejamnashville when a younger musician asked me for music career advice. at the time i was feeling out of luck with my efforts & down on myself (lol), but there i was telling this kid that he had what it takes & that if he believed in himself there was nothing to worry about. i decided to take my own phony advice.

special thanks to all of the collaborators on this project and to anyone that has listened. give it a spin today. still working on the next one can’t wait for you to hear it <3

some lyrics from the album:
“bet on me if you dare. the chips are already down”
“if you wanted advice, don’t take it from me”
“forever and a day. how long would you wait to get out of the maze?”
“there’s only one way to find out, there’s plenty others to cope”
“it’s pissing me off. it’s pissing me off”
“live in reality h**! this aint a reality show”
“i’m a phony selling dreams by the pound”
“these are days that i’m never going to get back”
“wading in your water with my knees dry, shallow”
“i can’t leave it all to fate”
“reason with my rhyme”

Freedom Holds the Body is more than an exhibition series—it is a living invitation to return to the self. @emberdarkgreen

Through her work, a proud artist and community member speaks from a place of self-expression, self-love, and self-guidance. Each mark, color, and layer carries the wisdom of those who came before her.

Her ancestors remind her that freedom is not only something sought outside of oneself; it is something practiced within the body, personal stories, boundaries, and imagination.

Creating is one way she honors that inheritance. It is how she listens inward, makes room for joy, and chooses to be fully seen. It is how she remembers that her body is worthy of care, her voice is worthy of space, and her journey belongs to her.

Her work offers a message to everyone moving through their own becoming: trust the guidance within. Hold yourself with tenderness. Make room for the people around you to do the same.

Self-love is not solitary—it becomes a movement when it is shared, protected, and supported through community.

What does freedom in the body look, feel, or sound like today? Share a word, a practice, or a promise to yourself below. Together, the community can hold space for one another. ✊🏾🖤
