We just wrapped up an inspiring training retreat for our Healthcare Leadership Student Ambassadors. We have over 50 ambassadors this year, from first-year freshmen to graduating seniors, who all want to help get the word out about the great opportunities in healthcare at BYU.

I’m constantly amazed at the capabilities, caliber, and quality of our students. They aren’t just future leaders—they are leaders today, helping others achieve their full potential. They are lifting where they stand and moving metaphorical mountains. They are extraordinary. @byu_healthcare_leadership

Some trips end with a little more adventure than you planned. 😂✈️

Hawaii was AMAZING… but then came the hurricane, 2 cancelled flights, and a bit of wondering when we’d make it home.😅

Now we’re finally on our last leg, and headed toward home.

Going home… hallelujah! 🙌🏼😂

Worth it? Absolutely.
Can’t wait to come back to Hawaii? Absolutely.
Ready for my own bed? Also absolutely. 🏠💤

Sending prayers to all those who have lost so much. Many parts of the Big Island will be recovering for a long time.

Last one… Vietnam!

I was so moved by the short time I had in this country. We visited a beautiful old woman who let us into her home. Her home was not a tourist site, but she let us in, moved the bed over, and pointed down a tunnel. One by one we crawled through the tunnels used during the Vietnam war. I thought it was so beautiful that this woman who had lived through war and so much hardship had invited us, Americans, into her home and let us pass through those tunnels that I’m sure held so much memory.

What a beautiful example of humility, love, & forgiveness

My takeaway in 5 words?

Learn | Work | Serve | Respect | Love

Learn - People are awesome. Hearing their stories and the unique experiences that shaped their perspectives help us to explore and expand our own understanding.

Work - Change takes work. Whether it be within ourselves or within systems, change requires courageous diligence in doing what is right even in adversity.

Serve - In following the example of Jesus Christ we are called to love and serve our neighbors. Sometimes that means the person next door and sometimes that means someone across the world. A life committed to serving and lifting others is a life well lived!

Respect - From a young boy in a tiny village to leaders of countries, we are all equally incredible and gifted. Recognize the innate worth of every person you meet; and always remember to recognize that value within yourself.

Love - Love God and Love people. Love is the greatest motivator and will bring greater joy, peace, and purpose into everything you do.
