I wish this group received more success during their mainstream debut, but they still average 130,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, have a few songs with over 1,000,000 streams since going independent, and they’re still hot as hell. So, I don’t think they’re sitting around at home crying that they didn’t win a reality show in 2012.

Even though they formed in 2007, @emblemthree didn’t get their big break for another five years - until they appeared on The X Factor USA season two. Having been mentored by @simoncowell during the competition, Emblem3 were sent home in fourth place during a shock elimination that made Britney Spears into a meme.

Keaton Stromberg, Wesley Stromberg and Drew Chadwick stayed with Simon Cowell after the show and signed a major record deal with his label, Syco, and Columbia Records. Their first album, ‘Nothing to Lose,’ debuted at number 7 in July 2013 thanks to the efforts of their lead single ‘Chloe (You’re the One I Want).’ At the time, when ‘Chloe’ peaked at number 93 on the Hot 100, the trio became the first X Factor USA act to make it on an important Billboard chart.

Despite debuting within the top 10, album sales and radio plays dwindled and Emblem3 went forward as an independent act. They struck while the iron was hot and released two more catalogs - ‘Songs from the Couch’ and ‘Forever Together’ - both of which reached the Top 50 albums in America based solely on their own merit.

After a few breaks away from music, members coming in and out of the line-up and the addition of Jack Mudd, Emblem3 released three more records - ‘Waking Up,’ ‘Pyro’ and ‘Songs from the Couch 2’ - although none of them charted. Still, the music is good and the boys seem happy, so I hope they keep the fun going for as long as possible. As long as they do, I’ll be listening!
