Before I understood freedom…
my body already knew.

It knew when I was holding back.
It knew when I was pretending.
It knew when the smile was fake
and the movement was safe.

The mind wants approval.
The body wants honesty.
And dance begins the moment
you trust the body more

So next time you dance, don’t ask your head.
Ask your body…
it has been waiting

To dance is freedom.

Nobody taught me freedom
I found it when my body stopped asking for permission.

When I dance, I’m not chasing steps.
I’m listening,t o my breath to my past.
To everything I was told to hide.

Real dance begins when you stop performing
and start telling the truth with your body.

So ask yourself
are you dancing to be seen
or dancing to be free?
.

Time never stops, so I choose to live fully.
Love who you love and stay true to yourself.
I’ve made mistakes, God knows I’ve tried, even bent myself trying to please the world, only to lose sight of who I am.

I’d rather be disliked for speaking my truth than die pretending to be someone blind. Tomorrow isn’t promised, yesterday is gone, and all we really have is this moment to keep moving forward.

Don’t let any preacher, friend, or stranger dictate how your story should end. Leave a trace of love in every heart you meet.

No more chains holding me down. Emeka Salsa
