I wasn’t a bodybuilder when we met

I was barely a “gym rat”

And bodybuilding is not exactly a hobby that causes relationships to flourish.

Date nights change, priorities shift, you deal with someone hangry or tired, etc

It can be extremely isolating for the athlete and extremely difficult for their partner.

especially in a society where women are being told to shrink, to stop lifting weights, that muscles are “manly”. Internally I questioned if my passions would hurt our relationship.

It’s scary finding a passion for something that could damage your relationship.

But through out my journey, Dane never once asked me to stop, to find another passion, to not take it as seriously.

He has been just as much apart of my journey, supporting me every single step of the way.

Loving me during my peak bulk (where I was extremely uncomfortable in my own skin), loving me when I’m hangry or tired, loving me when he has to wait at the gym for my cardio sessions to be over, loving me when we can’t go out for typical dinner dates, and so much more.

Dane never once was intimidated by my ambitions. Instead he’s walked right beside me, cheered me on, and picked me up on my low days.

I thank God every day for blessing me with a partner who shares my passions, discipline, values, and hunger to always be improving.

I wanted to make an appreciation post because as I get deeper into prep, I know my energy will be depleted, my time will be spent checking off boxes, and our life will look different.

While prep is honestly terrifying for me to think about because of all the unknowns and the challenges I know are ahead- I know I have a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold onto, and a rock to keep me grounded.

There is no one else on this earth I would want by my side through this.

I love you forever and always.

9 years ago feels like last week.

I still remember the long drives, the late-night talks, and the big dreams as we crossed state lines with nothing but excitement, ready to explore a new place with each other. We’d complain about being too college-broke to buy a plane ticket, and not being old enough to rent a car with more space. Wishing 25 would hurry up.

You’ve always been beautiful. But watching you grow into the woman you are now has been the real gift.

We’ve had stressful nights, hard seasons, and plenty of “what are we doing?” moments. But we’ve also had an endless hunger for more and unwavering support for each other. Whether success comes tomorrow or years from now, I’m just grateful I get to build a life and chase dreams with you.

That spark from the night we met is still here.

Happy 9 years. Here’s to loving you like there’s no tomorrow every day. ❤️
