Austin/Broadmoor NQS💗🌅
.
This season looked absolutely nothing like I thought it would, and honestly, neither did this year. It started with my first real injury after basically my entire life skating, and what I thought would just be a physical setback became a lot more. Being forced to slow down made a lot of things I had pushed through for years finally catch up with me. I learned that sometimes finally feeling safe and supported is what allows your mind and body to stop surviving and start processing what it’s been carrying.
.
I worked really hard physically and mentally to find my way back, only for life to keep changing the plan. Another accident, an unexpected procedure, being rear-ended, and plenty I’ll keep to myself. Each time I thought I’d be okay, something else seemed to happen, and NQS landed right in the middle of it. With maybe a week total of being cleared enough to “train,” Austin became about getting back out there. By Broadmoor, I raised my score around 7 points and even hit my little +1.00 GOE goals on both my ChSq and ChSp. And because this year needed one last touch, I cut my finger finishing my long program lol.
.
This year has been a whirlwind physically and mentally, usually processing one thing while already dealing with the next. I’ve always believed things happen for a reason, but this time it’s been harder to understand why. Still, I’m grateful I got the chance to compete because I really do love this sport, even when it’s hard to see that through all the mess. I’m grateful for the people behind me through it all especially when I was stuck or too stubborn to even want to try to keep moving. Despite everything, I am happier, safer, and feel more supported than ever.
.
So for now, the goal is pretty simple: rest, heal, and rebuild. Someone told me today, “You may not have chosen what broke you, but you get to choose what you build from it.” I don’t know exactly what rebuilding looks like yet, and I definitely don’t have some perfect inspirational ending for this year. Just learning that moving forward doesn’t always look like what I thought or had planned, but have faith and trust in what lies ahead. ✝️💟
