First lives for the staff today. Excited to continue growing and get better! This group is really good.

Shapes were shaping, 15/22 strikes. Big focus for Em this summer was getting the ride/run heater and sweeper on both sides of the plate with a hitter in the box. Tons of intended zone work, chair command days, etc shined last few lives ✅

Emerson went 14/21 on strikes today, sat 90-91 T91.5, the sweeper (avg 79.8 3ivb -14 hb) stole the show, tons of whiff 📈 @whitworthbaseball

Tons of growth from our core group stacking days in-house. Much enjoyment in watching this group build skill/physical adaptations over the summer, and then getting to put it to the test with @jyhacks hitters and vice versa. Environment is unmatched.

Have had some success ridding of the typical 9 pocket bullpen sessions. This has included manipulating distance, using a metal chair that is quite obnoxious during intended zone work, turning bullpen days into “micro-live ABs”, even if a pitcher is working within a sub-max intent, and so on. A 20-25 pitch high intent bullpen can always be a 15 pitch live.
Has been really interesting to watch some of the college arms dice hitters on sub maximal bullpen days working within intended velo ranges. No reason to be partaking in passive practice and exclude yourself from competition because you aren’t at 100% intent or working on shapes.

Chase translation, not clean and pretty.

Build the environment that closely resembles the random demands that the game can throw at a pitcher. Watch the skill work actually translate to the field. Watch the athlete rid of the big moments being “too big”. Death to passive practice. Going to make a few more posts here on the how and why!
