Original sketches for rugs never realized by American woodworker/ designer George Nakashima are shown in a capsule collection called Ode to Nature at Tai Ping Carpets as part of Maison et Object Design in the City. Produced by @efcarpetmakers , a subsidiary of @taipingcarpets , with curation by Paris-based decorator/ scenographer @emilebonaventure , the designs show Nakashima’s reverence for trees—he believed working with wood gave them a second life—with birds and snow-capped mountains also motifs. The displays feature original ‘60s furniture from @nakashimawoodworkers. The organic, painterly quality of the rugs is a nice foil for the restrained, unornamented pieces. @georgenakashima1 #taiping #taipingcarpets #edwardfields #efcarpetmakers #carpets #midcenturymodern #design #interiordesign #maisonetobjetinthecity
