Today, I had the pleasure of checking out the newly refreshed Omega Speedmaster 38mm collection at @lesambassadeurslux

While the new ā€œSpeedmaster Reducedā€ no-date steel version is getting a lot of attention, the standout star for me is the gorgeous two-tone steel and 18k Moonshine Gold model (ref. 324.20.38.50.02.001).
Strapping it on, the color harmony is immediate. Omega paired a striking green aluminum tachymeter bezel with Moonshine Gold accents on the crown, pushers, and the inner links of the Moonwatch-style 5-link bracelet. The dial is a beautiful silvery opaline PVD base featuring applied Moonshine Gold markers and hands. It is incredibly elegant.

On the wrist, the 38mm diameter is very friendly. The compact 44.96mm lug-to-lug makes it wear beautifully on smaller or average wrists. However, you will feel its presence; at 14.75mm thick, it is noticeably chunky due to the automatic Calibre 3330 inside. Thankfully, Omega brought back classic round sub-dials instead of the old oval ones, bringing it much closer to the iconic Moonwatch DNA.

This version includes a discreet date window at 6 o’clock. The COSC-certified column-wheel chronograph movement offers a solid 52-hour power reserve and a co-axial escapement. With 100m water resistance and a micro-adjusting clasp, it balances everyday durability with luxury style. Coming in at around €11,500, it is a magnificent, colorful twist on a classic.

When you think of James Bond, your mind instantly goes to Omega or Rolex, but hear me out: a real modern secret agent would actually wear the new @mauricelacroix Pontos S Solar Chronograph. Traditional mechanical luxury is romantic, but a double-O agent in the field values absolute survival over horological sentimentality.

Think about the sheer volume of sudden accelerations and violent shocks James Bond encounters on a single mission—firing automatic weapons, absorbing heavy recoil, jumping from helicopters, and surviving near-miss explosions. A mechanical watch, with its delicate balance wheel, fragile hairspring, and hundreds of intricate moving parts, is highly susceptible to losing regulation or completely shattering under that kind of intense G-force trauma. Quartz, however, is an inherently robust, solid-state technology that shrugs off violent impacts without skipping a single beat.

Strapping this 42mm stainless steel piece onto my wrist, the first thing I notice is how exceptionally balanced it feels despite the technical 13mm thickness. The smoked dial has a stunning, semi-transparent gradient that allows you to peek into the solar panels integrated directly into the subdials. These panels drive a precise Swiss Ronda 2040.D quartz movement, giving the watch an incredible five months of autonomy on a single full charge. It means Bond never has to worry about battery failures or manual winding during an extended extraction.

The build quality is undeniably robust. It features a unidirectional aluminum dive bezel, a sturdy crown guard, and a dual-color Super-LumiNova scheme that glows blue for minute tracking and green for the hours. Combined with a rugged 200-meter water resistance, this watch is engineered to take a serious beating while remaining completely sharp.

This is the ultimate blueprint for a Q-Branch gadget. Its tactical gunmetal DLC options and rugged layout make it a perfect candidate for hidden modifications. More importantly, it strikes a flawless balance between high-octane field durability and tuxedo-ready elegance. It is understated, highly technical, and completely reliable when everything else fa

After spending time with the @jacobandco Mystery Tourbillon Blue Sapphire, I can confidently say this is one of the most outrageous and technically fascinating watches I’ve ever handled.

The 50mm white gold case is drenched in invisibly set icy blue sapphires and diamonds, creating an almost liquid appearance under direct light. Jacob & Co. uses over 550 gemstones throughout the case and rotating display rings, and in person the effect is hypnotic rather than cluttered.

The centerpiece, though, is the triple-axis flying tourbillon. Watching the twin back-to-back tourbillons rotate in three dimensions feels unreal on the wrist. Unlike many tourbillons that become background decoration after a few minutes, this one completely commands your attention every time you glance down. The movement itself contains 430 components and rotates across multiple axes at astonishing speed, yet it still appears smooth and almost weightless.

Reading the time takes a moment of adjustment because there are no traditional hands. Instead, floating concentric sapphire-set rings indicate the hours and minutes using diamond pointers. Initially it feels theatrical, but after a few minutes the display becomes surprisingly intuitive. The lack of visible support beneath the rings creates the illusion that the indications are suspended in midair, a nod to historic mystery clocks.

Despite its massive dimensions, the curved lugs and alligator strap distribute the weight better than expected. It’s certainly not subtle or practical, and nobody buys this watch for discretion. But that’s precisely the appeal. The Mystery Tourbillon Blue Sapphire exists to showcase what happens when extreme gem-setting and uncompromising watchmaking collide.

What impressed me most is that beneath all the extravagance lies genuine horological innovation. Many ultra-luxury watches rely purely on excess, but this piece combines engineering, finishing, and visual drama at a level few brands would even attempt.

I’ve been waiting for @universalgeneve to come back from the dead for years. Ever since the brand disappeared more than five decades ago, I hoped its return would honour its incredible heritage rather than simply revive the name. After going hands-on with the new Polerouter in rose gold with the tiger’s eye dial, I think that wait was worth it.

The first thing that caught my eye wasn’t the gold case—it was the tiger’s eye stone dial. Universal GeneĢ€ve has cleverly used tiger’s eye marquetry to preserve the Polerouter’s signature crosshair design, and the result is stunning. Warm golden streaks, rich browns and bronze tones constantly shift as the light changes. Every glance feels different, and no camera truly captures how alive it is in person.

The 39mm case is beautifully judged. It feels modern without losing the elegance that made the Polerouter an icon, while the signature twisted lugs hug the wrist perfectly. It’s incredibly comfortable and wears slimmer than the dimensions suggest.

Inside is Universal GeneĢ€ve’s new micro-rotor movement, a fitting tribute to the architecture that helped define the original Polerouter. It doesn’t feel like a nostalgic reissue—it feels like the next chapter.

What impressed me most is how restrained the watch is despite being crafted in gold. It never feels flashy. Instead, the tiger’s eye dial quietly steals the show, rewarding every glance with a different play of light and colour.

After wearing it, I came away convinced Universal GeneĢ€ve hasn’t simply brought back the Polerouter—they’ve reminded us why it’s one of the greatest watch designs ever created. For a brand I’ve waited so long to see return, this couldn’t have been a more fitting comeback.

Budget? Never heard.
But Please: Donā€˜t tell my wife. 🤣

#grailwatch hunting is a mindset, not a question of budget. Experience doesn’t require ownership. But to be fair, it sure would feels good to have these pieces in my collection šŸ˜…
