Sokha is my Dan #peaceandlove ✌️ ☮️ ❤️ 🌎

If there's one thing I'm constantly reminded of each time I return to this beautiful country, its that love, kindness, and compassion are all a choice. A choice and commitment made every day, and made harder each day when those same traits aren't always returned to you. But it's that choice, made consciously every single day, that brings and maintains peace. Peace within yourself, peace with others, and peace within a community. I am constantly inspired by the resilience, happiness, and harmony that is Cambodia. It's the people and the community that make this experience what it is each time I return and why I look forward to going back again soon. Thank you for welcoming us with open arms and for choosing to share your love, kindness, and compassion with us without hesitation. In a world often too full of selfishness, you demonstrated time and again what selflessness looks like in practice. I try my best to carry your stories with me and find it's often the life lessons that come from this place that I share with others more so than any story of how beautiful the country is or how stunning the temples are. Thank you to my best friend Sokha for being you and for everything you've done for our group and continue to do for your community. You are truly an inspiration for how to live life to the fullest and I can't wait to see you again soon my friend! And thank you to this group of beautiful humans who I traveled with. I loved every second with you all and miss our daily adventures together! May we all choose love, kindness, and compassion in our everyday lives. It might just be the only way to a long lasting and fulfilling peace.

Travel breaks the illusion that your current life is the only one possible. Thank you, Cambodia, for reminding me what love, kindness, and community can look like. I left with a heart that’s fuller than when I arrived, and I’m so grateful for every person and experience that made this journey unforgettable. I’ll always carry the memories of building a mud house, meeting the incredible hero rats, planting trees and rice, spending time at Sokha’s farm, learning to cook local dishes, living with my homestay family, and so much more. But more than anything, I’ll remember the people. Sometimes peace begins with something as simple as saying hello to a stranger. We have far more in common than we often realize.
