This is Sanctuary. ✨

A song written together. Shared in the room. Celebrated by a community of artists who understand what it takes to make something and put it out there.

These are the moments we love most.

Some things can only happen when you step away. ✨

Away from the noise.
Away from the pressure to produce.
Away from everything asking for your attention.

Sanctuary is three days set apart for artists.

Time to create. To breathe. To have honest conversations. To share meals and music. To reconnect with yourself, your creativity, God, and other artists walking through many of the same things you are.

Our next Sanctuary retreat is November 13–15 in Northern California, and applications are open now.

Space is intentionally limited, and we’d love to have you there.

If something in you has been needing this, apply.

Applications at the link in our bio. ✨

Now you get to hear Lydia. ✨

We’ve had the privilege of hearing this voice at Blackbox for years, and it still stops us in our tracks.

There’s something so effortless and honest about the way Lydia sings. No need to oversell it. Just listen.

Accompanied by the amazing @rogerjaegermusic

Stunning.

Fathering Artists Community ✨ Lydia Volstad

Lydia has been part of our local artist community for over six years - singing at Blackbox Live events, recording, collaborating on all kinds of projects, and joining us for multiple Sanctuary retreats along the way.

She is an absolute talent. An incredible voice, a songwriter, and an artist we’ve loved watching continue to grow and find her way.

Recently, Lydia made the move to Nashville to give music even more priority and step into this next season of her artistry.

We’ve believed in Lydia for a long time, and we really just want more people to hear what we’ve had the privilege of hearing over the years.

**We want the world to hear Lydia’s voice and her songs.**

Excited to highlight her this week and let you hear for yourself. ✨

We get cues throughout our lives about who we are, what we’re good at, and what we’re capable of.

Some are true. Some are lies. Some come from people who simply couldn’t see what was actually in us.

And somewhere along the way, those voices can become louder than our own.

Yes, you may need to grow. Develop your voice. Learn your instrument. Become a better writer, producer, performer.

But underneath all of that is something deeper: Do you believe enough in what’s inside of you to really go there?

To stop hedging. Stop comparing. Stop creating with one foot on the brake.

To make something so honestly and purely “you” that critics, expectations and insecurity don’t get to decide what comes out.

That’s the art we all want to be around. Those are the artists we want to walk with.

You don’t have to be the best artist in the world. You just have to believe in yourself enough to start.**

Fathering Artists Highlights ✨ — Gabe Groppi

Now you get to hear him.

We said that Gabe is one of the best vocalists we have had at a Sanctuary retreat - here is a little glimpse of an original song and his powerful voice.

There’s something about a great voice paired with a great song that doesn’t need a lot of explanation.

This is the first of a couple songs we’ll be sharing from Gabe. We love his talent, we love that he’s still creating, and we’re excited about what’s ahead for him.

Turn it up. This dude can sing. ✨

Gabe Groppi, everybody.

Sanctuary is back this November ✨

Three days in the mountains of Northern California, creating alongside other artists and experienced mentors — making space to move through the resistance that so often keeps a song from being written or finished.

The invitation is simple: start a song, finish a song, and share it with the room.

Along the way, you’ll write, collaborate, get feedback, share meals and conversation, and spend a few days immersed in a community of people committed to the creative process.

You don’t need to arrive with the perfect idea or something to prove. Just come ready to create.

November 13–15, 2026
The Summit · Redding, CA

Applications are now open. Space is intentionally limited, with both overnight and day guest spots available.

Apply at fatheringartists.com or through the link in bio.

Three phases of an artist’s journey. Drawn on a napkin. Lived in real time.

Phase one is the proving ground. You don’t get much help. The weight is on you. You say yes to almost everything because opportunity is the teacher and quantity is the only way to find quality. Your YES is huge. Your no is small. You’re pumping the water until it runs clear.

Phase two is the narrowing. Songs get sharper. Shows get tighter. The audience leans in. Support shows up — feedback, co-writes, mentors, money, maybe a deal. You’re still wide, but the funnel begins. Yes is intentional now, not reflexive.

Phase three is stewardship. You’re not better than anyone in a human sense — you’ve just honed, established, and earned a platform. You don’t need more opportunities. You need the right ones. Your NO is big. Your yes is small and strategic. Efficiency, health, sustainability, generosity, legacy.

The work doesn’t change. The weight does.

✨Thoughts?

Artists often feel alone. We want to be a part of changing that!
