It grieves my heart to share that my Grandpa Bob Fobes passed this past Sunday. He had a great day with my Grandma and talked to his friends even and then went to sleep to join his savior and all the people he loved that he told me about over the years.
I’m grateful he’s no longer in pain and gets to be his joyous silly self again. I’m grateful my parents had me young to have such a close relationship with my grandparents. I’m grateful for the memories we’ve made, for your intentionality, for your wisdom and teaching me to be the man I am today.

I loved making waffles with you, watching the Red Sox play with you, playing the piano for you, seeing you at the end of my productions. I loved watching you love grandma for decades. I loved our trips to Dunkin’ for a Boston crème. I loved sitting in your attic with the record player and staring over the marsh with your fancy binoculars. I loved going to see the blue angels and the airplanes with you. I loved getting chowder and the way you said “chowdah”. I loved our car rides where you taught me to drive or even just talked with me. I loved listening to phantom of the opera in the car with you and grandma. I loved waking up before anyone else in the morning to always find you on the couch reading the scripture and always inviting me in. You were always gentle. I’ll miss your hand on my back as we sat in the quiet together and just listened to the Lord.

If you got the chance to meet my grandfather just know he loved meeting you. He asked me all the time about my friends, by name. He remembered you. Prayed for you. He dedicated his whole life as a servant to the people in his life. I’m sure he had his flaws as every human does, but right now I can’t think of them. My grandpa loved like Jesus. And everyday that I am alive I will pray to make an impact like he did. If the world shared his compassion and gentleness and a whole lot of joy, we’d all be for the better.

Thanks for your support to my family at this time. Please pray for my grandma Ruth to feel comfort in his absence, and for the whole extended family as we will all miss him dearly.
