Oeiras was a dream—one that I cried in several times, but an amazing one nonetheless. I can’t describe how it feels to have 80 of your favorite people in one place, especially in such a beautiful city along the Portuguese riviera.

We are so appreciative of your presence as we joined in Klattrimony—including all the help with country flag sorting, hair extension removal because I’m not a real girl (thanks @radhikagmthy), last-minute (literally 2:57 pm) welcome sign printing & delivery (thanks Casey), and so much more.

It was so wholesome and fun to see our friends & family get to know each other, take unhinged selfies, narrowly avoid Portuguese jail, and fall asleep on the turf we got married on after coming back from the club (looking at you, Werewolf). But those are stories for next time. Once you pick out where, we’ll look at flights! 😉

Rooftop welcome party! Catching up with my Huntington Woods Elementary kids I’ve known since I was 7, drunk praying in Vietnamese with my giáo lý/Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể/ASU comrade, introducing Henry to my Laotian relatives who live in France, seeing cousins who came from the Netherlands, and hugging friends from the Writing Center/study abroad/pharmacy school/etc. was so amazing 🥹

In Lao, “lam” means dance and “vong” means circle. This traditional folk dance is characterized by slow hand gestures in a circular formation and rhythmic footwork, sometimes with couples forming inner circles around the larger one. It is a significant part of weddings and festivals. The dance originated in rural Lao communities as a celebration of harvest time, performed around a central bale of rice, and it is now recognized by @UNESCO as a form of World Intangible Cultural Heritage. I’ll pretend we were as graceful as the description makes it out to be 😝
