bad things that happened since july:
♟️ lost my job
♟️ victim of a hit and run and had to pay thousands in repairs out of pocket. weho sheriff was unhelpful once i uncovered her info from parking garage footage.
♟️ became estranged from my mom and my dad
♟️ betrayed by 2 friends
♟️ bad living situation
♟️ UTI and then antibiotics for that gave me a yeast infection
♟️ someone stole a huge painting that i made with all my remaining paint while it was drying tucked away in my backyard. it’s the piece i was proudest of.
♟️ my car got totaled by a drunk driver last week. i bought the car a year ago. cops were useless. i don’t have collision coverage and because 4 parked cars were hit, his cannot cover us all. i have to pay out of pocket for another car. i am already at my lowest financially.

good things that happened since july:
♟️ my friends and the support networks and communities i am a part of have made it so clear that they are here for me and that i am taken care of. despite having the hardest year of my life, i NEVER ONCE felt alone. friends offered me their homes to stay in, picked me up and gave me rides to set up for my birthday, and have been extending all the help they can. i have genuinely wondered if someone called an etsy witch on me and sometimes give over to despair. should i give up?! life won’t stop pummeling me. but i see the kind, generous, and principled people i have in my life, and i become certain i am doing something right.
♟️ continuing standup comedy with my comedy cohort and everyone who supports me in this dream of mine
♟️starting videos for fun to express myself through the form in ways i never got to for for work. i had a boss who devalued my labor, and the anger inspired me to apply these skills towards telling the truth about my life, disregarding notions of seeming “professional” or “messy.” i wanted to fall back in love with the medium—and i have!
♟️ got accepted into my first comedy fest
♟️ capping off what i pray is an end to the distress with a board game bday party themed “the perfect occasion.”

WHAT I LOVE
photography by @stillxkyle

1. dying my own hair. i’ve been dying it rainbow colors since i was 15 and never had anyone else do it because part of the fun is not knowing exactly how it’ll turn out but hoping it matches the vision in your head or that you’re able to rock it regardless. i ofc have it bleached by pros though.
2. how kyle captured my hair and its colors in my updated digitals
3. every single person who showed up to my first standup comedy show 🥹💘 it is so easy to not show up to things and that all these people actually did for SUCH a pivotal culmination in my life will FOREVER be engraved into my heart!!!! thank you eternally to genevieve (who gave me flowers!), linh (hyrax!), tessa, jesse-james, keerthi, emily, bryan, min, cortni, JR, lynn, andrea, clara, greg, jose, and even marlena (who was on the other side of the world but still remembered to wish me luck on the day of my show). you all gave me support and cheers during a time when i was very scared to try something new and made it a memory i will never forget. and i will always show up for you in the same way!
4. my 2nd standup show on TUESDAY, JULY 29 AT 3 CLUBS LOUNGE IN HOLLYWOOD AT 7:30 PM. FLYER SAYS JULY 15 BUT IT’S 29 LOL. please come! it’s a longer set so i will be debuting some more new material
5. the hyrax linh got me as a gift for the show 🥹 if you don’t know, hyraxes are a potato-shaped mammal that look so goofy and are the best representation of my gender performance. i’ve raved about and sent videos to him for a year now and linh surprised me with a PLUSHIE OF ONE. he did not know it’d be relevant to my set, as i had 2 jokes of what i do that makes me relate to them (come on the 29th to learn what)
6. my silly ass house and the people and dog in it
7. the safe, inclusive, and honestly just inspiring and entertaining open mics i’ve performed and met such wonderful comics at. special shout out to @girlypopmic and @badgerandjam! elize and i actually won a crown for best set when we performed at girly pop! thankful these spaces exist.
