here's exactly what i'm ordering in tacoma this fall when the night calls for blankets, books, and shows i've already seen four times 🍁

happy teriyaki: chicken teriyaki with gyoza and usually a cup of miso soup because i like a little bit of everything.

emish market: always the beef borscht, usually the farmers cheese pierogies too. if i don't finish them i save them for breakfast and mix the sour cream with strawberry jam for a sweet treat.

infinite soups: different every time. this day was creamy wild mushroom. paired with grey's anatomy it takes me right back to working at the surgery center and swedish cafeteria lunches, in the best way possible.

salamone's: capicola ham, garlic, and basil.

german pastry & coffee shop: black forest cake. i don't like cherry pie and i'm not really a fan of chocolate cake either but this just works. bienenstich is my other go-to.

save this for your next rainy night in & send it to whoever owes you dinner.

I had a hankering for some medovik (honey cake), so I took @piercetransit Route 501 out to @emishmarket in Fife, one of our local Ukrainian grocery stores.

It's a pretty quick trip out to Emish from Downtown Tacoma to Fife on the 501 bus, about 15-20 minutes. (If you go by bus on the weekend, be aware that the 501 doesn't serve certain stops and the closest inbound one to Emish isn't served on the weekends, necessitating a walk to another stop along E. 20th Street. Check the schedule for details.)

Come with me on a transit-oriented trek to Emish Market to pick up some medovik and other treats!

Ukrainian identity in the Pacific Northwest at this market, celebrating the culture, the history , the independence,of this proud Democracy! (
@emishmarket ).Featuring traditional Ukrainian comfort food including an in store bakery and cafe. Also the Ukraine Defense Support Tacoma Chapter (@uds4ukraine ) meets here every Monday evening. They also collaborate with local non profits such as Toloka (@toloka_wa ), a Ukrainian cultural center featuring community events, workshops, and celebrations. Like most Americans I am saddened, disappointed, and disgusted with our current administration and their love affair with Putin and his EVIL Regime! When asked by a reporter yesterday if he thought he was being treated as a scapegoat for Trump’s failures, President Zelensky responded without saying a word, his expression said it all! SLAVA UKRAINI!💙💛♥️

Обращение к владельцам Emish Market.
