Taking action comes in many forms. As you know I’m a passionate sea swimmer, I need the sea, the sea needs me, all of us to be its protector

I’d heard of the film @jo_inthewaterfilm but saw that it wasn’t available in Northern Ireland. I contacted Fair View Films to ask why and ended up agreeing to show the film myself

Then, in an act of synchronicity, I arrived at the community module of my master’s course and was required to organise an event to engage with the community I wanted to be part of

What started as a desire to see a film turned into gathering together a community. A community of people who want to protect the sea.

🧜‍♀️ we started with a community swim in Donaghadee

🪡 I invited local artisan makers who are influenced by the sea to take a stall and share their wares

🩵 I gathered a panel of speakers, a marine medic and activist, a sea swimmer and sustainability expert, a Marine Officer from the local authority

🎟️ I advertised, flyered cars and businesses and started to sell tickets to members of the community who care deeply about their environment, their relationship with the sea

The film features @jobateman99 a midlife woman from Devon who took her water company to court over polluted water. I wanted to show the film here in NI but wanted a conversation to follow on what is happening here and what action we can take here. How we can ALL make a difference. I’m so proud and grateful for everyone who came, supported, shared. It was a real community affair. Thanks to makers @emmabringscolour @earthbound.spirals @barrsbay @mosspigsni
And speakers @whattheseasaw @alicia.peyrano and Martin
And helpers Lisa and Mark of Donaghadee Sailing Club, Kerry who recruited Martin, my lovely friend Kat @thetravellingpilchards and my wingman @four_feet_wander
And thank you to everyone who came along and pledged to protect the sea

We can all make a difference, reduce plastic waste, stop using chemicals in the home, stop flushing things down the toilet, stop supporting polluters, but only what you need and recycle what you no longer need

What pledge will you make to protect the sea?

One of our greatest joys at Cinch?

❤️💪🏼Supporting women — in life, in business, and in bold new beginnings.☀️

Last night, we hosted our Canvas by the Coast social evening in celebration of our lovely Cincher, Emma Van Houten — founder of @emmabringscolour 🎨💛

After a year filled with personal transformation, challenge, grief and deep courage, Emma found healing through creativity — and turned it into something beautiful for others to share.

From caring for her dad to rediscovering her love of painting, Emma reminds us all that light can be found, even in the hardest moments — and that creating space for joy is part of the healing. 🌅

We’re SO proud to support Emma as she steps into her next chapter — empowering others through art, colour, and connection.

Give her a follow 👉 @emmabringscolour

Her story is powerful, her heart is huge, and her talent speaks for itself.

Last night was wonderful, 20 women from all walks of life and very little artistic experience who united to have fun, unleash their creativity and connect with each other. It was Magical…. Thank you Emma and WELL DONE - every single person said they are away to buy some art supplies and get started on a new hobby!

We cant wait for our next one!

Join our Cinch community, it’s about so much more than weight loss….❤️🖌️🎨🖼️
