If you need a reason for a getaway this month, here’s a starter for five…

1. Turner Prize @townergallery – Be part of the first wave to see this world-class exhibition, which opened at the end of September. Seen here is Jesse Darling’s installation

2. Bracing sea dips at Holywell Beach, with a warming coffee @cadencecycleclub, where you’ll find them at The Helen Garden at the foot of the South Downs Way

3. Feel soothed and restored by visiting ‘It’s Nicer To Be Nice, Healing Garden’ by Eve De Haan which forms part of the vibrant Eastbourne Art Trail @eastbournealive

4. Artist @judith.alder is celebrating the arrival of the Turner Prize in Eastbourne with her own exhibition, Vital Signs

5. Take the Sussex Art Shuttle to the newly opened Charleston Trust Lewes to check out the ‘Bring No Clothes: Bloomsbury and Fashion’ exhibition, curated by @thecharlieporter which explores the impact the Bloomsbury Group has made on style today. @charlestontrust @sussexmodern

Can we pause yet? After a busy summer, I'm ready to rest for a minute. We love our guests exploring the estate ground and gardens, the walks in the woods, but equally I hope we can offer a bit of refuge and calm respite. A series by @emmacroman’s visit at @tobiasandtheangel workshop observing Angel’s craft process which marries traditional values and modernity in a beautiful contrast.

@tobiasandtheangel collaborated with @loveyourhomeuk on a tange of screen printed fabrics for their sofas and cushions.

The crowds have cleared, the kids are back at school and it’s time to enjoy a September staycation with a mini-break to the seaside to catch the last of summer.

Enjoy a #stayatport with our hotel only a stone’s throw from Eastbourne beach.

Lap up gorgeous sea views over the English Channel, venture into the South Downs and sample some of the many delicious local wines available at Port.

Room rates from only £89 when you book directly.
