Following a fantastic Burghley 5* 2026, let’s meet Icarus… the horse behind Champion Rider, Emma Thomas.

“I love his complete enthusiasm for his job!”

🐴 Icarus

Emma and Icarus have been together for eight years, from when he was 5 all the way to 5* competition.

Favourite memory? Finishing top 15 at Burghley 5* last week!

Current goal? A top 10 finish at 5*.

We love Emma & Stix’s partnership 💙

Still coming down from an incredibly special weekend at @burghleyhorsetrials

There are some weekends that remind you exactly why you love doing what you do, and this was certainly one of them.

To have three riders and their horses that we have the privilege of working with competing at Burghley was something I felt incredibly proud of.

@emmathomaseventing and Icarus finished an outstanding 14th.
@jackpinkneyeventing and Claragh Olala finished 18th.
And @tom_bird_eventing_ and Cowling Hot Gossip finished 23rd.

Three combinations. Three Burghley completions. And a huge amount of work, preparation, horsemanship and teamwork behind every single one of them.

As a veterinary physiotherapist, you only ever play a small part in a much bigger team surrounding these horses, and I never take for granted the trust that riders place in me to be part of that.

Watching horses you know and work with galloping around Burghley is incredibly special. Watching all three cross that finish line made it even more so.

A very proud weekend for AGVP, but most importantly, enormous congratulations to Emma, Jack, Tom, their horses and every member of the teams behind them.

What an achievement. And what a weekend. 🤍

It takes a team 💙

To our wonderful team on the stand, who fitted hundreds of hats throughout the week, and everyone behind the helmets who handcrafted each one in preparation.

To our riders and their teams for their brilliant achievements, and to all of you who continue to support and trust us with your safety.

A huge thank you to our media team, @granitelensmedia, for capturing the week through stunning photography and videography.

Thank you 💙
