NEW on Radio WORM: Through the “BFBS” inverse backronym, BARE FREQUENCIES BEGRIMED SIGNALS reimagines the ongoing transmissions by the British Forces Broadcasting Service in Cyprus. The show will be hosted by the para-fictional character of George: a bleached-haired MC-aspiring character, found throughout Emiddio Vasquez’s previous work that investigates the development of UK Garage in Ayia Napa, Cyprus in the vicinity of the British military bases. Assuming the position of Skepta’s cellmate, as documented in his 2006 grime track “Ayia Napa Skit,” when asked to say something in a snuck in dictaphone, George responded: “I don’t understand.” The BARE FREQUENCIES BEGRIMED SIGNALS show reconsiders that prison cell encounter through a series of sonic archives–part sonic collage, part dj set, part musicological investigation–in order to dissect club culture into its bare frequency components, and through which George finally asks: “Where do militarism and club culture intersect?” Emiddio Vasquez is a Cypriot-Dominican artist, musician and researcher, whose work is shaped by the politics of matter and how they inform sound and computation. For over a decade he helped shape the Cypriot underground music scene as an organiser, a DJ, and a performer. In 2018, he founded the record label Moneda. He is currently also working as Lower Levant Company, co-representing Cyprus in the 60th Venice Biennale. Routine Maintenance: A Tale Lower Levant Company & Olga Micińska Thkio Ppalies is pleased to present Routine Maintenance: A Tale, a sculptural sound environment by Lower Levant Company (Emiddio Vasquez & Peter Eramian) and Olga Micińska. At the core of the installation two existing works are brought into conversation: Crossover Frequency Spectrum (2024, LLC in collaboration with Gaetano di Gregorio) and Bad Luck to Every Magistrate, and Bad luck to Every Gamekeeper (2026, LLC & Olga Micińska), previously presented at the 60th Venice Biennale Cyprus Pavilion (@forever.informed) and the @sonicacts Biennial in Amsterdam, respectively. The title of the exhibition cites the official statement by the Sovereign Base Areas (SBA) authorities regarding the ongoing developments at Akrotiri Salt Lake, where locals are protesting plans to erect as many as 68 new communications antennae, describing them as “antennae of death”. According to the statement, any work currently ongoing is “associated with routine maintenance” and not with plans to install new listening antennae. So the tale goes… Opening: 16/10/2026, 7pm Duration: 16/10 – 06/11/2026 Opening hours: Wednesday-Friday, 6-8pm (or by appointment) Poster by Olga Micińska Photo by Haris Nicolaou

Emiddio Vasquez presents Conic Sections III When: 7 October 2026, 19:00 Where: Phytorio within the Nicosia Municipal Garden Conic Sections III is a performance series that repurposes street cones into horn speakers, in order to reconsider sonically and spatially the split between private and public sphere. Emiddio Vasquez's sound performances often include improvised electronics and synthesis techniques that vary in degrees of intensity and complexity. From raw ear-piercing noise to pulverized samples, field recordings and all-embracing sound quilts, he performs in response to people, environments, and histories, all in equal measure. Emiddio Vasquez is a Cypriot-Dominican musician, artist, and researcher. For over a decade he helped shape the Cypriot underground music scene, as an organiser, a DJ, and a performer, and in 2018 he founded the record label Moneda (@moneda_._). NOISE TRAFFIC: EVENTS A memoir 1 by Tero Nauha / Spruce Spray Shadings by Freja Bäckman / Conic Sections III by Emiddio Vasquez 📅 7 October 2026, 19:00 📍 Phytorio – Visual Artists and Art Theorists Association, Nicosia Municipal Garden "But noise does indeed exist, and trying to define it in a unifying manner across the range of contexts will only invite noise on itself". – Douglas Kahn On 7th October 2026 at 19:00, "Noise Traffic: Events" in collaboration with the University of Nicosia and Phytorio – Visual Artists and Art Theorists Association, features "A memoir 1" live performance by Tero Nauha, "Spruce Spray Shadings" (2022) sound work by Freja Bäckman, and "Conic Sections III" by Emiddio Vasquez, at Phytorio within Nicosia Municipal Garden. 🎟 Suggested donation of €8/€5* (students, unemployed, people with disabilities) *The net proceeds from the donations are paid to the artists. Noise Traffic (NOT) is a creative initiative seeking a new un-unifying multifaced understanding on the political possibilities within the performativity of "noise", its role, and necessity in contemporary society across a range of contexts. Through a creative research including events, meetings, art and research projects, and exhibitions in Cyprus and Finland, the project aims to develop a creative methodology for the ways in which noise in its capacity to disrupt it also exposes social realities. W: www.noisetraffic.com A memoir 1 Tero Nauha "A memoir 1" is a performance by Tero Nauha about memory, intimacy, and the personal narratives we tell each other so that the self can view itself as coherent. What seems improvised is never authentic. We are always more than ourselves: an agency reflecting its relationship with other agencies, whether conscious or latent. This performance is based on speech and corporal movement, yet what is true is never the case. The words that are enunciated may be obscene, hilarious, or sad, but it would be a mistake to view them as confessions or witness statements. This is not a performance about repressed memories or trauma, but rather about ambiguity, simulation, and actualization. The performance lasts about 45 minutes. Tero Nauha is

🌺 Queer Wave Day II 🌺 Day II began with a powerful conversation with Daraq Crew on Queer Solidarity Across Borders, bringing together the panellists, moderator and audience to exchange ideas, experiences and reflections on what solidarity means, across borders and within our communities. We then turned to the screen for Barbara Forever, an archive-driven exploration of the life, work and legacy of iconic, pioneering lesbian filmmaker Barbara Hammer. The evening continued with our first Short Programme: Of Boys and Men, followed by a Q&A with BAFTA-winning poet and writer Dean Atta. Our final screening took us into the wild, unforgettable world of City of Lost Souls, Rosa von Praunheim’s cult underground trans-punk musical. And then, we danced. The screening was followed by our Burger Queens after party, with a performance and 80s music selection by Aphroditios, followed by a DJ set from Emiddio and Morharmy as C’est Demon! We danced the night away. Another day of films, conversations, encounters, ideas and dancing. Thank you to everyone who made it part of Queer Wave. To everyone who helped our artists expand and enrich their ideas through the stories they shared, the conversations they had, and the practical support they offered in Kalavasos, thank you. And thank you to everyone who came, listened, took part, watched, and witnessed the work of 27 individuals who poured so much love into this. Thank you all. Until next year. ❤️ . 📸: @andy.g_photography

After meeting this year’s residency artists, we set out to explore Kalavasos through its stories, museum, mines, the river, olive mill and mosque, gathering material and inspiration for the projects ahead. The village tour was led by Andreas Vasileiou and Lefteris Sozos, while the activity focusing on the mines was led by archaeologist Thea Christoforou, with the participation of Andreas Mamaritis and Michalis Soteriou, two of the last living workers from the mines. We concluded our first day by quenching our thirst with Andreas’s famous Commandaria Mojito.
