It has arrived!! Here’s a little sneak peak for you 💜

In all its glory and beauty, the new radicchio book finally exists after over a decade in the making.

After tumbling down the rabbit hole which led to so many lovely characters, magical places and deliciously bitter meals.

In the book you will meet farmers, chefs, historians and chicory nerds from Italy and the U.S. that made this book possible, and the reason to exist.

I’m thrilled to share this beautiful article by Lola Milholland in Portland Monthly announcing our forthcoming book, Radicchio: A Celebration of the Beloved Italian Vegetable.

Lola tells the story of how radicchio found an especially fertile home here in Portland and the Pacific Northwest.

What began with a loose network of curious farmers, plant breeders, chefs, seed growers, distributors, grocers, and eaters has grown into a community working together to transform our winter food landscape. Flip through the photos to see some of the people that made this happen.

Along the way, radicchio has become what Lola calls “a poster child for our local food culture at its best”: collaborative, interconnected, delicious and rooted in a shared sense of space.

Portland may always be the City of Roses, but perhaps there is room for another flower… one that flourishes in the rain, grows sweeter in the cold, and can be eaten!

Thank you @lolamilho for telling this story with such humor, insight and affection, and to @pomomagazine for celebrating the people who have made the Pacific Northwest’s radicchio movement possible.
