Looking through my memories of today and the video of Evie Jane officially getting her aerial popped up. My girl worked so incredibly hard to get to this skill that she wanted so bad! Her goal was to have it in her solo this past year and she nailed it. Here’s some of the progression of the aerial. EJ had virtually no tumble skills outside of a cartwheel before Coach Zack. He is incredible and has worked so hard with EJ to help her reach and surpass her goals. #encore

Tonight was recital number eight.

As I watched my girl take the stage one more time, I couldn’t help but think about all the years that brought us here, the countless hours in the studio, the early morning competitions, late nights, costumes, makeup, dance bags, and miles traveled. Dance has been more than an activity; it has been a huge chapter of our lives, a rhythm that has shaped so many of our memories together.

This recital feels like the bookend to an era. Hopefully, for only a short while.

While my heart is full of pride as she bravely steps into something new, it is also a little heavy knowing we’re pressing pause on a journey that has been such a big part of who we are. There is a special kind of sadness that comes with a new season of life. Especially when knowing you’re leaving more than a team, you’re leaving family.

But if dance has taught her anything, it’s how to work hard, persevere, be part of a team, carry herself with confidence, and shine under pressure. Those lessons will follow her long after the music fades. Thank you, Sarah Varner Phillips and Zack Phillips, for loving my girl so well and helping her become the person she is today.

To my sweet girl: Thank you for every performance, every car ride, every laugh, every win, and even every tear. I am so proud of you for having the courage to chase new dreams while carrying all the lessons from this one. Whether you’re dancing on stage or cheering on a mat, I’ll always be your biggest fan.

Here’s to eight beautiful years, countless memories, and to learning a new normal.

Encore Dance There’s no way we can stay gone for very long. ❤️⚫️✨ #edenmackensie #mytinydancerforeverandalways❤️

Now that the season is officially over, I can finally share Evie Jane’s solo for the year. I don’t think I’ll ever love a dance as much as this one. Thank you @brandonlake for your song, Gratitude. It will forever be special to our family. So proud of my girl for giving back to the Lord with the gift he has given her. This mama’s heart is so grateful I get to be her mom. Thank you to Rhaly for the beautiful choreography and to Sarah for the many privates to polish it. #competitiondancer #gratitude #encoredance
