endo is NOT a “womb disease.” it’s a systemic condition that requires systemic change. 🌎

I love how Maddie is tackling this from the ground up. between her education baskets for young girls and her mission to include boys in the conversation, she’s stripping away the stigma before it can even start.

if we want a better future for the 1 in 10, we have to start with education that is inclusive and accurate. 💛

if there is one thing you take away from Maddie’s story, let it be this: trust yourself. it could save your life.

the most important tool in your medical toolkit isn’t a prescription, it’s your own voice. 🗣️

drop a “🎗️” in the comments if you’ve ever had to fight to be heard in a doctor’s office. let’s remind each other we aren’t “difficult” patients, we’re advocates.

Maddie and I are discussing a topic often avoided: the high cost of medical ignorance.

in the endo community, we’re used to being told “it’s just a bad period” or “it’s all in your head,” but Maddie’s story shows us the extreme end of that spectrum: when doctors lack true expertise in endometriosis, or worse, when they misrepresent their abilities, the consequences aren’t just “prolonged pain.” they can be life-threatening.

for most of us, this negligence looks like decades of being gaslit, repeated surgeries that don’t actually help, and a “care plan” that leaves us in a cycle of suffering.

but for Maddie, the doctor’s lack of knowledge and overconfidence in ability led to a post-op experience that almost cost her life.

medical negligence, systemic dismissal of women, and a lack of specialized endo education directly harms patients. we shouldn’t have to be experts in our own biology just to survive a surgery. we shouldn’t have to navigate a system where “rare” cases are ignored until they become emergencies.

Maddie’s experience is a massive wake-up call for why we need better standards of care, better education for surgeons, and a medical system that actually believes women the first time they speak.

I am so grateful to Maddie for being so raw about what happens when the system fails us and using her experience to advocate for better care🎗️

“it’s just a bad period.”

tell that to Maddie, who faced stage IV endometriosis in her lymphatic system and a near-death surgical experience

it’s time to stop minimizing this horrible disease

Maddie’s herstory is live now. it’s empowering, it’s eye-opening, and it’s a must-listen 💛

today is the last day of march, aka endometriosis awareness month, so we’re adding an installment to Her Story today!

I sit down with the force of nature that is Maddie to talk all about her endometriosis and chronic illness experience 🎗️

Maddie’s journey is a story of survival. we’re talking stage IV endometriosis that has likely traveled to her breast and lymphatic system, EDS, and a surgery that almost took her life due to medical negligence. it is raw, it is heavy, and it is a necessary look at what happens when the medical system fails to listen.

but through the trauma, Maddie has found a mission: making sure the next generation doesn’t have to fight the same battles.

she’s educating people, sticking up for the children suffering through normalized pain, sharing her story, and changing the landscape of advocacy.

what we’re diving into:
💛the terrifying reality of extra-pelvic endo
💛the “alphabet soup” of EDS, PCOS, and PMDD
💛why self-advocacy is a literal life-saving skill
💛Maddie’s incredible education baskets for kids

this episode is a reminder that your pain is real, your intuition is valid, and you are not alone.

Repost since the first video froze!

Hi, I'm Amanda, and welcome to days one and two of Finding Myself Again.. My monthly Challenge of "Finding Myself Again".

An accountability journal blog like Challenge from my very good friend @the.healing.edit

I have been on quite the journey the past 6 years. Most recently, I had a successful Endometriosis Excision Surgery in February. She of my pain is returning but I am a very complex patient with a handful of chronic conditions. Some officially diagnosed and some under the radar a smy toher good friend Chelsea @gettingthebetterofendo
Would say! 😃

I recently got diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Hypermobility Syndrome. It has been a wild ride so far.
