A moment featuring a male of the ground dweller Blue-headed pitta with a ground fly hovering around him. Now, the forest fires currently sweeping through some areas of Kalimantan pose a severe threat to wildlife populations.

Pittas, in particular, are highly vulnerable because they forage on the forest floor—precisely where the fires spread. Hopefully, the forest fire crisis facing Indonesia will be resolved soon.

Having striking colors thats why everybody loves Kingfishers. This Rufous-backed dwarf Kingfisher picture was photographed only three metres away from my lens without hiding curtain. They're so tame here in Meratus lower hill area. What a nice bonus species for me.

Two days wildlife funtime operated by @banjarbirdingtour. Kindly contact this wildlife operator if you wanna to try some wildlife trails especially in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. I recommend them so high!

And again my personal favourite forktail in Indonesia. The Chesnut-naped Forktail (Enicurus ruficapillus) on its real habitat right in front of my hiding spot. Very sensitive species, more sensitive than other forktails I rate.

Came very close right over my head, singing its distinctive loud sound. I knew it had to be him.
The rounded big head Red-bearded Bee eater (Nyctyornis amictus) always be so easy to photograph here.

Spotting a female of The Bornean Banded Pitta (Hydrornis schwaneri) under the late afternoon spotlight just in front of our hide. Shared area together with The Blue-headed pitta.

This one is somewhat similar to the Javan Banded Pitta (Hydrornis gaujanus) in terms of color composition, though the colors of this species are more intense. The differences are more apparent in the male, but unfortunately, the male did not appear at the lek during the two days we waited for it.

The Scarlet rumped Trogon (Harpactes duvaucelii) on a spoiled-looked angle. When me and @proysant311 was waiting for the elusive Blue Headed Pitta inside my blind (hide), This stricking colored male suddenly came and perched just above us.

Of course we didnt skip this one, especiallly for @proysant311 He could manage tons of photographs from his first encounter to this species. Anyway this species of bird has been categorized as a Near threatened species based on IUCN Redlist. The decreasing population mostly caused by massive deforestation as usual and almost annual problem in Indonesia.

Here are some photographs of special species of birds (also a diurnal arboreal snake) from the Tretes forest area—near Mount Welirang—taken yesterday during a gathering and sharing session with beloved friends.

1. Orange-breasted Trogon (Herpactes oreskios) male, finally we met again after our last meeting three years ago in the same place.
2. Little-cuckoo Dove (Macropygia ruficeps) and their favourite fruits as always.
3. Javan Banded Pitta (Hydrornis guajanus) Male, an endemic species to Java & Bali. Very stable in the new lek I've created before even without feeding on.
4. Sunda Forktail (Sunda forktail), an endemic species to Sumatra & Java. Easily found—depending on the keenness of our eyes—along mountain streams.
5. A Bronzeback Snake, probably Dendralaphis pictus, but I'm not sure because the snake was on a tall tree and it was out of my reach to catch using snake's hook.

The scorching weather yesterday certainly affected the results. However, we were quite happy to gather, share a laugh, and exchange ideas without rigid constraints.
