World Championship 2024 race recap: Such an amazing experience. By far my most favorite race I’ve ever done. I accomplished my goal, which was to race hard, but have fun! I soaked up every minute of it. This race was not about a PR or podium for me. I work so hard to get here, and this was the reward. I don’t even have words to describe the beauty and energy here.

Walking to the race I was so anxious, there has been so much build up to this. The past year has been filled with hurdles, but also so much growth for me in so many aspects of my life.
At the start line the DJ had picked out a song for each age group, ours was Titanium. As we toed the start I forgot to even be nervous. All of these women from different nations all over the world, in competition, but supporting each other. High-fives and hugs, and all shouting these words “I’m bulletproof nothing to lose fire away fire away. Shoot me down, but I won’t fall. I am titanium!” Goosebumps all over my body.
Ran and dove into the water and swam my little heart out. My biggest fear for this race was the cold water (still traumatized for St. G), but I didn’t even feel it. I did get kicked in the face and goggles flooded, but flipped over and cleared them and continued on. I loved swimming in that beautiful water.
The bike course was so challenging, but the most amazing ride. The whole course was rough chip seal and filled with tough climbs. Every kilometer of it was surrounded with green rolling hills, snow capped mountains in the distance, and the most beautiful landscape.
The level of competition was so humbling and impressive. I realized pretty quickly that this wasn’t going to be a top finish for me. I pushed hard through the entire 70.3 miles, but didn’t wanna push so hard that I was hurting. I wanted to appreciate being here and take it all in, and that’s what I did!

11th at Ironman 70.3 Indian Wells in 3:50:36. 6th & final triathlon of my 2024 season. Fastest run of the day & a run course record but that doesn’t matter much if your swim & bike are mediocre. After a 5-year hiatus from the sport of triathlon— I went “all in” after competing in the US Olympic Marathon Trials in February.

I didn’t end up meeting up to my expectations this year. But I learned a lot & I’m excited about what the future could bring. For a guy that wasn’t swimming or biking a year ago— I’ve come a long way. Not bad for being self-coached. The real MVP of the season was my wife @hannahmarie143_ who gives me unwavering support & believes in me— proving to me time & time again that the best decision I ever made was marrying her. Also, a huge shoutout to my brother Preston @weavermedia__ who made a killer docuseries (links in bio). For now, it’s time to rest & reboot. Then we’re gonna saddle up for a stellar 2025 season. Why do I do this to myself? Because I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m slightly deranged. If you’re slightly deranged too— hmu for some coaching.

IM 70.3 Maine Trip Recap:

This was my first race back in professional triathlon after a subpar attempt during my school days. I’m excited to fully commit to the sport this time. The Maine race was definitely a wake-up call, as I lost the majority of my race nutrition on the bike and struggled to overcome that challenge. Finishing in 33rd place stung because I know I’m capable of so much more and have still not hit even my current potential.

The half Ironman distance is always a test of resilience, and this race reminded me of the importance of preparation and adaptability. Even though things didn’t go as planned, I’m grateful for the experience. The course, location, and people were fantastic, and it added fuel to my reignited passion for the sport. Hopefully I’ll be able to return for the race next year!

For those of you training for your own half Ironman races, remember this sport is a real test of grit! Not just self discipline to do the day to day hard things, but to continue in pursuit of the long term goal. Every setback is an opportunity to learn and grow. I used to not understand that very well and was hard headed to this pretty sure fact of life and journey within the sport. Now that I’ve accepted the setbacks, growth has come in strides!
