A canvas painted by the earth itself—where every hue whispers serenity and every breeze tells a story.✨💕

Good things come at a cost. Shortly after my brother got employed at Microsoft, he had to move to Canada, away from friends and family. Since he worked remotely for the US team, he didn’t need to go to office, which meant that he had next to zero social life in Canada. I was the only person he could really interact with..but because I was heading to uni on most days, he was pretty lonely..

So..I made it my no. 1 priority to organize a gathering with all his close friends as soon as we got back to Dubai. And what better occasion than his 23rd birthday?

On May 6th, I organized a bday party with ~10 of his friends. Though it went just as planned, organizing it was undoubtedly time-consuming, especially given my indecision and tendency to overthink.

Who to invite? Where to go? What to do? Weekday or weekend? Cake flavour? Text on the cake? Where to get cake from? The list goes on. And when people don't have preferences, the task gets infinitely more difficult.

After some discussion, we ended up going to a board game cafe, thanks to @rida_arsh and @simra_javed . Needless to say, the location was great! Super aesthetic, modern, full of boardgames, good food, & a cozy library!

People didn’t have any cake or bakery preferences, so I was pretty lost. The cake is a vital element of any bday party, and I wanted it to be good! >:( Thanks to my dad, I finally narrowed it down to the 2D red velvet cake with milk chocolate from @caketalk_bakery; it was muuch larger than expected but definitely worth the price. Thanks to bro’s friends for covering the cost!

On top of the party, I also asked his friends to write some nice (anonymous) letters. My brother’s fav mode of communication is text — and I knew he would most certainly treasure them.

For dinner..people again did not have preferences. Thoughts like 'what should I order?' 'what if it's not good?' 'is this too much' surfaced, but thankfully it turned out to be just the right amount. We ended the day with fooseball (my favorite) & I was so happy with how everything turned out! Now if only someone did something like this for me 🙃
