Into The Wild Mind…Again - A Solo Exhibition By @jeffparise

Into the Wild Mind night 2 reception!
(The closing is THIS SATURDAY 3/28 7-11)
Thank you to every friend, collector, and curious soul who stepped Into the Wild Mind.
Seeing all of you standing among the Animal Kingdom paintings and the Shadow Series - creating community, laughter, and shared experiences reminded me why I create art in the first place.
Art lives quietly in a studio for so long. Then one night it breathes. It becomes conversation, connection, and a meeting of spirits. That’s what you all gave to the work, and to me on this night.

Your love, encouragement, and presence mean more than I can ever properly say. You remind me that the Wild Mind isn’t something we wander through alone.
Thank you for walking through it with me.
You could have been anywhere, but you chose to come here and celebrate life, community and art!

And thank you to @thevisionarynoir for sharing your magic with us! And to @amanterestaurant! And especially to @bcourttrimble and @thenewmart for making it possible!
If you couldn’t make it this time, there’s one more chance! The closing reception is THIS Saturday March 28th from 7-11! And if you were there and want to come back, please do!!

We said goodbye to our baby Tilly on Friday, December 5th, 2025.

She passed due to heart/age related issues. She had a long life of screaming, eating pistachios, and trying to perch on as many shoulders as possible.

The house is far too quiet without you.

I am so grateful to have known you.

Please share any pictures / memories of Tilly! She was a social animal and a huge camera hog

The Mommy Dearest opening was one for the books — the gallery was buzzing with energy, curiosity, and a few nervous laughs (the good kind). Guests from all over packed the space to take in the show — with artists hailing from Turkey (yes, the country) to the East Coast and right here in the South Bay. Two powerful poetry performances added even more depth to an already emotional night, sparking honest, unfiltered conversations about family, love, and all the messy stuff in between.

This is art that moves you — that makes you feel. It’s not the pretty stuff you hang to match the couch; it’s the kind that rattles you a little and makes you think. That’s the kind we like.

Come see Mommy Dearest daily from 10am–5pm at Not Shockboxx in Hermosa Beach. Most works are available for purchase — find the piece that hits you right in the gut.

CALL FOR ARTISTS

Not Shockboxx (notshockboxx.com) invites artists to submit work for Mommy Dearest — a raw, unapologetic exhibition exploring the messy, painful, and sometimes hilarious realities of family. Forget the storybook household or the sitcom-perfect mom and dad. This show is about the families we actually had — dysfunctional, toxic, complicated, co-dependent, absent, or just plain weird.

While the theme centers on abnormal families and the chaos of blood ties, we welcome loose interpretations of the concept. Maybe your work touches on identity, childhood, generational patterns, or healing. Maybe it’s not about your mom at all — maybe it’s about rebirth, control, or breaking cycles. The point is: make something real. We’re after powerful, thought-provoking art that fits the emotional undercurrent of the show — however you define “family.”
