“Anthea Williams deftly choreographs the minimal opportunities for movement and changes of focus in the lift space. At the same time, the rising and ebbing tides of emotion in and around the trio are authentic and instantly recognisable for the women watching their predicament play out”. "Snape’s exploration of these tensions and how they dovetail with environmental crises and big tech make for a satisfying, socio-politically resonant play. In the expert hands of Williams, it’s also thrilling theatre."

THE ELEVATOR opened a couple of days ago at @ensembletheatre! Written by @elosnape and directed by @anthea.williams, it has been a full circle moment for me since working on PONY at @griffintheatre three years ago with the same crew. How time flies…

Grateful as ever to make silly talking elevator noises and shape a comedy with friends.

Faith’s review of “The Elevator” at @ensembletheatre has… (ahem) dropped!

If the lift doors seal shut and the backup power fails, does your real identity surface, or do you just sit there, content in your modern apathy?

Eloise Snape’s world premiere of The Elevator at the Ensemble Theatre zeroes in on this exact psychological crossroads.

“A furiously intelligent, fiercely funny evening of theatre that shreds institutional life with mischievous satirical glee, Ensemble Theatre delivers a spin-stripping ride that will be either highly therapeutic or deeply triggering for anyone currently exhausted by the digital rat race.“ - Faith in Theatres

The Elevator plays at Ensemble Theatre until Oct 18.
