Tbh Macklemore’s music when he first came out was not for me (2000/2012?) + tho I respect what he’s doing with his platform still can’t say I listen to it. Recently had some conversations about the shifting algorithmic patterns/media coverage when 👉white👈 celebrities use their platforms to not fence sit. Macklemore at MetLife stadium actually said Free Palestine, Lebanon, Cuba, Congo, Sudan, People in America living in fear of terrorist organization ICE. And yet most of what we see or at least I have been seeing is a (legitimate) follow up focus on Palestine because from what I understand reactions from Pink to a removal petition framing anti-genocide as what then proliferates into an ideological “culture war” referendum on “hate speech/free speech”.. and if u continue to minimize Robert Kraft’s role in all of it- ppl that for years have been normalizing Palestine/Lebanon/expanding regional war/conflict/unilateral bullshit as some kind of “far away” issue simply refuse to connect the very obvious dots draped in tax payer dollars. The type of ppl “who don’t do politics” until they notice gas prices are above $6.

There was a video from an AI researcher I reposted recently and she made a sociological observation/reference that human beings tend to be “group seekers” rather than “truth seekers” and that makes a lot of sense when it comes to social media especially and how algorithms are literally designed to exploit polarizing (groupthink) fault lines/social issues.

Sheeran has played at least one show I’ve seen for Ukraine which imo is a very clear political stance. I have noticed that a lot of “left” leaning content creators typically use Ukraine as simply a surface double standard signal and nothing else lol. While there have been multiple genocides/war going on in the world- including in Myanmar 🇲🇲.. imo the reason why these struggles/genocides continue to be heavily truncated/separated/disappear from attention/feeds is because the “audiences” r different + social media is simply a tool of streaming entertainment/black+white thinking esp when you engage passively. The trap I think is social media itself becoming a feedback loop👇🏼
