People don’t get access to water, and here people waste water every day, from their home courtyards to the roads outside. They keep wasting water throughout the day.

I am amazed that people still don’t understand the relationship and impact of increasing population, growing superstitions, and nonsensical behaviours like throwing religious items collected while cleaning their homes into water bodies, dumping garbage into water, and the effects of all these practices on the environment, trees, rivers, waste, pollution, deforestation, dumping garbage in the mountains, and the excessive use of polyester and synthetic clothes, which can take up to 200 years to decompose.

World Standards Day 2026 — A Shared Vision for a Better World

A better world is not built on promises alone. It is built on shared principles, measurable performance, and responsible action.

Observed on 14 October, World Standards Day highlights the importance of international standards in creating safer, more reliable, and more compatible products, services, and systems.

This year, our focus is on Sustainable Development Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy — a global commitment to making reliable, sustainable, and modern energy accessible to everyone.

From renewable energy and energy-efficient buildings to reliable infrastructure and responsible resource management, standards help establish a common foundation for progress. But meaningful change requires more than technical specifications. It demands thoughtful design, effective implementation, continuous monitoring, and accountability.

At Vintage Village, we believe that a regenerative future begins by designing communities around the systems that sustain life — energy, water, soil, biodiversity, and people.

Because true progress is not simply about building more. It is about building responsibly, measuring what matters, and protecting the natural world for generations to come.

One planet. Shared responsibility. Measurable progress.

Let’s protect what protects us. Connect with nature. Connect with life. Only one life.

Week 321: #Mangroves Cleanup Drive at Vikhroli

Our Mangrove Soldiers have added another new location to Mumbai's terrain in collaboration with HK's Learning Point and Eco-services LLP (HK'sLPE) and the Vikhroli Koli Samaj Machhimar Sahakari Sanstha. Seeing crabs scuttling through the debris felt like a silent appeal from nature for citizens to clear the trash choking their habitat. This area has been severely affected by solid waste flowing through the Nullahs originating in Vikhroli Kannamwar Nagar and other parts of the city, along with direct, untreated sewage.

Despite navigating deep mud and swarms of mosquitoes, it was a very tough day dedicated to learning the geography and waste issues of this new site. A passionate team of about 20 volunteers collected over 10,000 pieces of trash, consisting mostly of FMCG packaging waste, liquor bottles, thermocol, and footwear.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every volunteer who contributed. We also make a humble appeal to the BMC to install trash traps at all Nullahs where they connect to creeks and the ocean. Millions of plastic products and solid waste flow through these drains every day, severely harming our oceans and coastlines. This simple measure needs to be implemented across the entire coastline of the country to stop urban trash before it enters the water.

Additionally, all FMCG companies must actively work on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) so that packaging from valuable brands is no longer found polluting our mangroves and shores. We also urge citizens to refrain from littering—please dispose of your waste in dustbins rather than throwing it into water bodies. Finally, our special thanks go to the Mangrove Foundation Prashant Bahadure and the local forest officers, Hemant Karkhanis, and his team for their continuous support.

Glimpses from today's Mangrove clean up Drive & Awareness Activity.

HK's Learning Point and Eco-services LLP (HK'sLPE) in collaboration with Environment Life Foundation & Vikhroli Koli Samaj Machhimar Sahakari Sanstha actively participated in Mangrove Clean up and awareness activity and is dedicated towards Conservation of mangroves & it's natural habitats. Plastic Pollution has become a huge problem in conserving the flora and fauna, it severely damages mangrove ecosystems by trapping debris in dense root systems, smothering young plants, and releasing toxins into the soil and water.

Unfortunately, We observed microplastic accumulation, Lots of plastic bottles, plastic bags, milk bags, shoes, glass bottles along with fish, molluscs, crabs, and other flora and fauna. So, take a small step, and come out of your comfort zone and start cleaning your ecosystem and be a conscious citizen.

Sincere Thanks to forest Department for continuous support and their contribution. Thanks to Hemant (a local fishermen) & others for their helping hand 💙💚
