CONSISTENCY IS A CONSEQUENCE.

Consistency
From Latin consistentia
“To stand together.”

When everything comes together, something extraordinary happens. Build, brick by brick 🤌🏻

Who wants to get Consistent?

Your dog knows the obstacles and you know the handling… So why does it sometimes feel like you’re running two different courses?

Because connection is more challenging and complex than it looks. It’s in the moments between obstacles: the information your body gives and the timing of the delivery.

The good news? Connection isn’t some mysterious chemistry that great teams just happen to have. It’s something we can understand, train, and strengthen.

In Episode 5 of the #ConsistencyCode, we dive into the connection gap!

The OUT verbal was always hard for Yummy to master. But no procrastinating any more 🤣🤣
During my training with Enya Habel she gave me a great training idea. Make sure she keeps her mind open. Play a game of one verbal on the jump with other ‘tricks’ she knows.

So my way is to give some verbal cues, not even related to a jump like DOWN / SPIN, It is hard, since all her attention is on the jump. But she is getting so much better. Most importantly her confidence on the OUT verbal is improving ten folds.

I really love these games.
- very clear for the dog
- lots of reinforcement
- I can do it in the small space of my yard
- even if I have only three minutes it’s perfect.

The skills you’ve been grinding on for years? You’re probably fighting for smaller and smaller gains. But the gaps you don’t even know exist? That’s where the low-hanging fruit lives. 🍎

Your blind spots could be your biggest opportunities for growth. And uncovering just ONE could change where you put your training energy next. In Episode 3 of The Consistency Code, we’re giving you a challenge designed to expose those blind spots.

Sometimes the fastest way forward is to get out of your comfort zone and start discovering what you’ve been missing.

When your dog has solid obstacle commitment, how you handle changes. You get to move on. Literally.

True commitment lets you leave earlier, set your line, and deliver the next cue early instead of trying to outrun your dog.

In Episode 3 of The Consistency Code, we break down the 7 Elements of Handling to show you the exact information your dog needs before they take off.

Watch Episode 3 now and start building true independence. 🎬

Feeling very inspired after today! So much good help, new information and things I’m excited to work on with Rebel🩷

I absolutely love crate games for teaching Rebel (and dogs in general) impulse control, while also encouraging them to actively think about what they’re doing before they even take the first obstacle. And hopefully, that will help us build stronger, more thoughtful start lines too! 🫶🏼

I love that it’s all about shaping and teaching the dog what to do, rather than constantly correcting what they’re doing wrong. 🧠✨

Now I’m heading home to train my very weak arms so I can throw treats a little further🫣

And apparently I also need to invest in better treats… 🤔

Turns out, even the pros have things they nail and things they're still working on. 😏

Susan, Max and Enya are putting their cards on the table. Now we're curious. Which of the 7 Elements of Handling is your superpower? And which one is your opportunity?

What is your biggest strength as a handler? Connection? Speed? Your verbals? ⚡

Now think about this: How could that strength also create a blind spot?

If I’m really connected with my dog, I might crash into an obstacle. My speed might give my dog the wrong line and result in an off-course. If I put too much faith in my verbal's, it can put too much responsibility on my dog, and that lack of connection can create another off-course.

We all have them: strengths and blind spots.

So, what’s yours? 👇🐾
