Confession: spicy food scares me. So naturally I agreed to try the Liu Xiaomian Spicy Numbing Challenge. Gay audacity, I suppose.

One rule. Ask for water and it's over.

Can I eat my way through it? Watch and find out.

Final dates are tomorrow and Monday. It's on a wait list, so get your name down. The noodles are worth it. So are the pigs trotters and the fried chicken.

Could you manage the heat?

A red door on Henrietta Street, and a very good lunch behind it.

Cô Thành means Ms. Thành. It's a tribute to Nguyễn Thị Thanh, the Lunch Lady, whose Saigon street food reached a global audience after Anthony Bourdain featured her on No Reservations. The menu is noodle-led, with some serious main character energy sides.

The wings were the surprise. Beer battered, roasted peanuts, smoked chilli glaze. I'd go back for these alone.

The morning glory was our server's suggestion. She chose well. The bún riêu cua was delicate, and still delicious. The bún nem nướng got the noodle pull.

Two desserts. I stuck with the coffee tiramisu. Perfrction My companion adored the chè ba màu.

La Petite Maison is one of London's great lunch institutions. So when I heard they were opening a café residency at The Lanesborough, it felt rude not to show up on day one.

Le Café LPM. Same Côte d'Azur energy, served all-day. We had the tuna tataki, a burrata tartine, octopus and veal Milanese.

Finished with the hazelnut cake they're already famous for and a their chocolate mousse that genuinely stopped the conversation for a second. The crunch. The chocolate. The salt. Perfection

Mayfair. The Lanesborough. A year-long residency. Ladies, we lunch.

Have you ever walked past a place a million times and did not realise what you were missing?

Say hello to my local @sylva_london. It sits inside Folkestone Gardens in Deptford. Chef Shuli Wimer spent five years at River Cafe before going solo here, pulling flavours from her Middle Eastern heritage into a menu that actually has something to say.

We had labneh toast loaded with peak season tomatoes and cucumber, scattered with zaatar. A chilled cucumber soup. The crispiest chicken schnitzel. A fantastic pappardelle. Then a peach and almond bake, and a slice of basque cheesecake with a melon confit that, yes, is exactly as good as it sounds.

Working closely with produce supplier @smithandbrock means nothing good goes to waste here, and that melon confit is proof of what happens when you commit to that.

The cake counter changes with the seasons and moves fast, so whatever's on when you visit, get it.

Deptford continues to surprise and deliver.

Polo in the Park and I somehow ended up on the pitch.

Not my usual scene but when you get invited to the @cala_uk VIP tent at @polointhepark, you don’t say no. Thanks to @binxandco_ for having me along and to @gorillaevents for the amazing hospitality.

And look, it’s not all caviar and champagne. I got my fix from some proper OG street food legends @othersidefried & @mac_not_crack and finished with a sweet treat from @thesavvybaker_ @champagnepommery and frozen @patron margs to wash it all down.

Then they sent me out to stamp the divots. Fully committed.
