A week in Texas & New Mexico 🌵
To make a long story short I met @k.ande almost a decade ago in Miami Beach while on vacation, and many years later (2023) when I needed some company on my cross-country drive to my new life in the Pacific North West, Kristen didn’t hesitate to join me when I proposed the idea. This was a drive that I didn’t know would hold so much space for grief, that would offer an opportunity for personal growth and self-awareness, and gift both of us a connection and deep gratitude for one another. She booked her flights (she was living in California at the time) and I picked her up in Toronto, we stayed at my best friend’s cottage in Northern Ontario for a few nights playing board games, swimming, eating good food, and laughing; then began our trek— we talked for 5 days straight, losing our voices by the end of each day and somehow that didn’t stop us from talking even more. That drive was healing. That drive was everything my soul needed, and I will be forever grateful for your presence on that journey Kristen.
So when she asked me a year later to be a bridesmaid as she married the love of her life, it was a simple yes, and I felt (and still feel) so incredibly honoured.
That week has now come and gone— a bachelorette trip with some of the most amazing women. I haven’t laughed that hard in ages, and who knew that wearing funky wigs to a local dive bar on karaoke night could be such a bonding experience. I love all you girls so much 😭
A beautiful ceremony, beautiful vows, and an even more beautiful future lies ahead of you two 🤍 @k.ande @eolumpas, I cannot wait to see you up here Canada next xx

El plan que nunca fue el plan.

¿Sabías que tú mismo puedes prender o apagar el miedo solo con lo que piensas?

Te cuento cómo lo aprendí, en el peor momento posible, subiendo el Half Dome en Yosemite.

I’m jumping on the bandwagon. Shout out to the Maxxed Out Cast & Crew for the nomination! I learned SO much from this show and truly enjoyed my time (injuries excluded 😒) The Camera team was a dream team on here 🎥🔥

Things nobody tells you about camera rental houses. The industry has more entry points than most people realize and rental houses are one of the most overlooked. Whether you’re trying to get your foot in the door, shoot your next project, or access professional gear without breaking the budget, here’s what you actually need to know.

The door is more open than you think. Most rental houses, especially the major ones, are actively looking to connect with emerging filmmakers. You don’t need a long list of credits to walk in. You just need to reach out.

Careers start at rental houses. Prep tech is one of the most underrated on-ramps into the camera department. You build real equipment fluency, you meet DPs, operators, and ACs every single day, and if you go above and beyond, those relationships turn into set opportunities. This is how a lot of working camera people got their start.

Lower rates exist. Ask about them. Many rental houses have programs specifically for students and early-career filmmakers. The barrier isn’t your resume or your budget. It’s just making the call.

And if you’re a Filmmakers Academy member, your membership now includes preferred pricing at Keslow Camera. Available to all membership levels with an exclusive member discount on cameras, lenses, AKS, and support gear across all Keslow locations including Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, New Orleans, Albuquerque, Vancouver, and Toronto. Head to your Member Resources page and click the Keslow Rental Program to get started.

Thank you to Keslow Camera for helping make Filmmakers Academy education possible and for helping our members bring their projects to life at more affordable prices! 🎬🤍
