The heart of the home - The Kitchen!

This kitchen is from one of our favourite projects last year just off Northcote Road.

This is what you call a magnificent, light filled, open plan living space. We love this @roundhouse_design kitchen featuring a seamless transition from indoors to outdoors, thanks to the @maxlightltd sliding doors.

I am secretly pleased when the window cleaner is fully booked. I am entertaining this weekend, so had to clean the skylights. The brighter evenings show up all the dirt. It’s a bit tricky standing on the edge as it’s an end of terrace, but that’s the fun bit (I advise getting the experts in!).

The skylights are still one of my favourite decisions. It took some years before I replaced the much smaller diy ones that came with the house. I came home to a flooded kitchen that evening as the water poured in.

The extendible window squeegee is from Leyland and I definitely recommend it. I’m guessing any dishwashing liquid will do. Only the garden left to sort out now. Are you Easter ready? Is your garden furniture out? ☀️

Pendant lights and rooflights! I wanted a long rooflight right over the kitchen island stools right above the sink window. Natural light when sat eating or having your coffee! Visually I love everything in alignment. You’ll see between the steel and the rooflight, I didn’t have room for the 3 pendants people normally have over an island. So I created a statement with a long, wide single pendant instead 👌🏼

We went for rooflights that are fixed shut. With the window right there and the sliding doors we didn’t feel a need for that extra cost. I often get asked about their noise and I can honestly say that’s never been something I’ve noticed!

… and their bonus use 😂 second photo wasn’t intended for Insta & but I thought this is actually really meaningful in the context of house chat!!! Both Oakley and Violet have been obsessed with the all the lights in this home as babies and constantly look up and around at them 🥰 Swipe for Oakley gazing up and out 🌤️

Open plan living, a mini tour of the sofa/TV area 🛋 swipe to see some images of the space. And the last photo when the extension was just being built to show you a sense of the size and plot 🏡

I debated whether to put the dining or the sofa area in this space. In the end I opted for the sofa, to make the most of seeing the outdoors through these beautiful sliding doors whilst relaxing. Some days I'm tempted to change the layout and bring the dining here. If you have an open plan set up, what's near your doors and why?!

One of the best investments was the Loaf sofa. I remember fretting over the cost at the time, but honestly it's bought me joy everyday in the last 5 years we've had it! We went for pale pink too and its holding up so well 💕

2023

Big plans for this year which mainly include finishing from last year!

Time to get the momentum back and push on! Can’t wait to be looking at a finished kitchen in this shot. (Maybe with a glass or two of wine on the island too!)

New year, new us!

Transformation Tuesday! (On Thursday I know)

Finally some nice weather to see the sun coming through the skylight though!

So pleasing to see this finally in place and one less spot for water to get in!

Always hope that the expensive part are worth it and we absolutely love this!

Nothing like a pop of yellow against a rainy grey sky!

We have finally got our big sky light up on the extension, and we had absolutely no plans to do it today!

But when your neighbours have a telehandler on their drive you’d be mad not to ask right?!

It’s amazing how good you feel when you make a big step forward on your build, just need some good weather tomorrow to put it in now!

The weather to open those sliding doors 🙌🏼 ⁣
⁣
Swipe for this view over the years, stood in exactly the same spot. Whilst we may have lost garden space to create the extension. Having a large, open walkway to outside means we use and appreciate the garden so much more than before 🌿⁣
