As we enter the last week Women’s History Month, we wanted to post a reminder to visit our FREE month-long exhibition: For the Love of Woman - an ode to women both as the artist, and as the muse. We’ve been celebrating women in all of their splendor with this, and would love to share it with you.

Happy Black History Month! During my trip to San Antonio, I had the immense pleasure of connecting with Maria Magdalena Williams, the founder of In the Eye of the Beholder Art Gallery.

In the Eye of the Beholder has its origins in 2019 with an initiative called the Art of Four, which was a team of four Black artists joining to obtain opportunities and exposure. The need to have a physical space for the Black artists in San Antonio quickly grew. Equipping her 13+ years of event planning, Maria opened In the Eye of the Beholder art gallery in September 2021. What started as a small initiative of 4 has now grown into a collection of 40+ artists.

The gallery is aptly located in the San Antonio neighborhood of St. Paul’s Square, which developed into a flourishing African American community by the early to mid-20th century.

Thurs: 11am-5pm
Fri: 11am-5pm
Sat: 12pm-5pm
