This Epiphone Les Paul Junior provided us with a wonderful opportunity to try something a little more on the artsy side, taking inspiration from Japanese tapestry and contemporary landscape art. The Plum blossom and mountain landscape also allowed me to work on my perspective, and integrating the branches into the guitar's curvature was a good exercise in utilising negative space.

Like most Les Paul Juniors, the guitar was originally routed for a P90 pickup, and so we designed a custom pickup cover to install the humbucker sized DiMarzio Super Distortion. We embossed the pickup cover with the Kanji "Urusai", which loosely translates to "loud" or "noisy", and is also used casually to express "be quiet!", and has now become the moniker of the guitar itself.

In this instance, the decision was made to keep the scratchplate off the final piece so as not to cover the mountain peaks, but we may investigate options for a clear scratchplate in future, and so have left the screw holes unfilled for the time being.

From last night - Jim has been rocking this @epiphoneuk SG the last few practices. It’s a guitar JW picked up second hand from our old producer Rab in our Red Sun days, Dez then took it off JW and it’s now with Jim, so that guitar has been around the band.

JW has been loving this @schecterguitarsuk C5 bass for the last 18 months. Plays like a dream and sounds really heavy.

Happy “Back to the Future” Day! 🥳🤘🏻 One of the most iconic films of the 1980s, one which encouraged so many people to pick up a guitar! 🎸😁 …C’mon, all of us wanted to be Marty in front of that HUGE speaker in the opening scene! 🔊🤯😂

The Epiphone Les Paul Custom Maple Fretboard Limited Edition is a distinctive variation of the iconic Les Paul Custom, combining classic design with a unique appearance and powerful electronics.
Unlike the traditional Les Paul Custom, which typically features an ebony fretboard, this special version comes with a maple fretboard and contrasting black block inlays. The combination of the light maple against the deep Ebony Black finish gives this guitar a striking look that sets it apart from the standard models.

Specifications:

Model: Epiphone Les Paul Custom Maple Fretboard Limited Edition
Finish: Ebony Black
Body: Mahogany
Neck: Mahogany, set-neck construction
Fretboard: Maple
Inlays: Black block inlays
Pickups: EMG active humbuckers, commonly configured with an EMG 81 at the bridge and an EMG 85 at the neck
Bridge: Tune-o-matic with stopbar tailpiece
Scale length: 24.75 inches
Frets: 22
Binding: Multi-ply binding on the body and headstock
Case: Original Epiphone hard case

The EMG pickups give this Les Paul a powerful, articulate sound, making it particularly well suited to hard rock and heavy music. Combined with the classic Les Paul construction, it offers a distinctive alternative to the more traditional Custom models.
What makes this version especially interesting to collectors is its unusual combination of a maple fretboard, black block inlays, classic Custom appointments, and active EMG electronics. It stands out from the more commonly seen Les Paul Customs and has a character all of its own.
An eye-catching and unusual member of the Epiphone Les Paul family!
