🎼🎶Dorothy, Dorothy. Would you like to Neb with me? 🎼🎵🎶

A nuanced and refreshing clean style of Nebbiolo, Equus holds the line on medium body, resisting the urge to pretend Victoria's Pyrenees region is a squint of the eyes away from replicating one of Alba's great Crus. This region overall has some good Nebbiolo winemakers and astutely managed vines, offering the fine, assertive tannin line with perfume, requiring the imbiber to enter the glass in order to enjoy the piercing fruitful pay off. Adding five additional years in bottle has proven rewarding, the structure not flinching an inch whilst continuing to enliven the mouthfeel without having to broaden or loosen to do so. Length is a given. Outstanding value.

#2021BestCellarDoorAwards 🍷⭐ "A short couple of hours north-west of #Melbourne lie the Pyrenees and Ballarat regions, both with a history of producing high-quality wines in stunning bush surroundings. Most cellar doors are concentrated around the historic towns of Avoca, Moonambel and Ballarat, pouring flavoursome, spice-laden reds, premium deep cabernets and noteworthy sparklings. The emergence of a new wave of young winemakers complements more traditional producers, bringing a spotlight on an often-overlooked wine region." Here are the winners for the Pyrenees and Ballarat regions:

Star Cellar Door: @mountavoca
Best Large Cellar Door: @taltarni
Best Small Cellar Door: @dogrockwines
Best Tasting Experience: @easternpeake
Best Food: @mitchell_harris
Best Accommodation: @bluepyrenees
Best Additional Experience: @equusatmoonambel (Museum of Wooden Horses)

Head to the link in bio for all of the winners in @gtwinemag's 2021 Best Cellar Door Awards.

What’s pretty, pink and tastes like spring? This gorgeous new vintage Rosé from @equusatmoonambel. Made with Nebbiolo fruit by @easternpeake’s Owen Latta, it’s dry with delightfully subtle tannins. A great drink for a sunshiny Friday.

Saturday BBQs and mermaids be like... Cracking pepper blackberry saturation. Some very pretty bunch mouthfeel. Hitting the spot after a BIG day of espresso and cold brew coffee service gone nuts 🤪

For a tasty snack to go with weekend wines, look no further than our Albondigas - Spanish pork meatballs in a spicy smoked paprika sauce, accompanied with freshly baked Smithward sourdough. We recommend them with a glass of @equusatmoonambel Nebbiolo for maximum enjoyment. Happy weekend!

Here's another discovery from our recent visit to Victoria's Pyrenees wine region. Patricia and John of @equusatmoonambel made the tree change from the inner north over a decade ago and haven't looked back. Now we're pouring their wines just a stone's throw away from old home in Fitzroy. We have their deliciously dry Nebbiolo Rosé available by the glass now - just in time for the weekend.
