First Generation Graduate With A Bachelors Degree In Art And Dance From Columbia College Chicago Performing Arts School ✨💫

Just know this journey from the very beginning was never easy for me from moving from Louisiana 16 hours away from home completely alone with nothing but a schedule and a suitcase with a dream. I have come such a long way and I proved to myself that I could and I did. I have made a name for myself. Every goal I set with moving to Chicago I can proudly say I have accomplished them all with the grace of God. And my journey is just beginning❕

Thank you to everyone that took a chance on little ole me while I made my rain in Chicago you’ll were apart of the hardest but most rewarding 4 years of my life🌟

Happy Capstone week!!

My name is Erica Jones, born and raised in Chicago, IL. I have been passionate about the art of dance since the age of 9, I take lots of pride in storytelling, creativity, & artistry.

This week, I will be presenting my written piece “Between Us”. Between Us is a deeply personal dance work that explores the choreographer’s experiences with love, lust, and the complexities of human relationships. Through movement and emotional storytelling, the piece reflects how outside opinions, personal desires, and individual choices can shape and sometimes damage the connections we share with others. Blending vulnerability with tension. This piece reveals the fragile balance between intimacy, trust, and the consequences of the decisions we make.

Come out to see an evening of 8 beautiful pieces, and honor my peers and I as we branch off into our next chapters🫶🏽..

Second post because performance season!
Repertory Performance Workshop: how much I have to say about this class. The way this course worked was exactly how I was trained, felt extremely nostalgic. Three hours a day, three times a week, blood, tears, sweat, rewinding the song hundreds of times. I love the arts, i love my fellow dancers, and I love my professors with their never ending passion and knowledge. Thank you for your patience. 5/8 Semesters done, thank you Fall 2025.

Going to school and meeting everyone who's helped me along my journey in Chicago has been some of the greatest experience I (a helpless goop) could ask for! I feel like I have so few words to speak of my transition into the broader world. It's hard to describe everything and how I've changed for the best. I love every single one of the people in my life infinitely because of all the love you give me.

@somewhere_foxxo / @ash_the_williams has their capstone project performance this week. I am so lucky to get the opportunity to photograph the entire student performance night (SPN) for @dancecenterccc. Ash choreographed 5 shorter pieces to share throughout the show and they are lovely interludes of their life. I am forever grateful for their love and support Ash has received during their time here at Columbia College Chicago. Ash has made incredible connections, has passionate professors and talented peers.
