“Talent doesn’t become art without great teaching.” ✍️✨ For the 2026 SVA Subway Poster, BFA Design (@svabfadesign) faculty member Eric Baker (@ericcbaker) wanted to capture the essence of mentorship. By pairing a violet hand with a vintage star-chart overlay, the design serves as a “guiding hand” for the next generation of creatives. In a world that feels complicated, Baker’s message is simple: there are still possibilities ahead, and you can still reach for the stars. 🌌 Keep an eye out for it on your next commute! 🚇 LINK IN BIO to read the story #SVANYC #SVAsubwayposter #GraphicDesign #Mentorship #EricBaker #ArtEducation #NewYorkCity

Whether 🌨️ visualizing microplastics in the air for Google, 💌 creating interactive valentines for Marc Jacobs, or 👟using code to generate on-brand assets for Converse in minutes, creative director and coder Talia Cotton proves that tech can transform brand interactions and intimidating data into meaningful experiences and useful tools. After working as a lead designer and developer at Pentagram, Cotton founded her tech-forward creative agency, @cottondesigninc, in 2023. 📰 EXTRA EXTRA! We are incredibly grateful to have had Deb Bishop from The New York Times for Kids for the second ‘Evening With’ talk in October. Students got an invaluable and exclusive look into the editorial design world, including a day-by-day timeline of what it takes to get each issue ready for print and a time lapse of the page layout process. Deb even brought copies of the Election Issue, which provided important information about voting and democratic participation to young people across the U.S. leading up to the 2024 presidential election.

_ post /a prefix, meaning “behind,” “after,” “later,” “subsequent to,” “posterior to,” occurring originally in loanwords from Latin (post-script), but now used freely in the formation of compound words (post-Elizabethan; postfix; postgraduate; postorbital). SOAR is a magazine that looks at the skyscrapers of New York City through the lens of time—past, present and future. It also includes the significant buildings of different period of time. The logo is a very tall and thin font which immitates the hights of the skyscrapers. @svabfadesign #magazine #magazinedesigns #editorialdesign #design #graphicsdesign #nyc #architecture #designers

Watching the documentary about Dieter Rams provided me with inspiration. Dieter Rams is an influential designer whose design philosophy has had a significant impact on the design field and the everyday products we use. Using his TEN PRINCIPLES OF GOOD DESIGN as a guide, I created a poster using AI and presented it in a mock-up using PS. I used the same color red that Dieter Rams used in his design. I think the color red and white can represent Dieter Rams the most. @svabfadesign #poster #posterdesign #graphicdesign #design #dieterrams #tenprinciplesforgooddesign #typographic #gooddesign
