📢📢📢 Endorsement Alert 📢📢📢

I am proud to have the endorsement of our neighbor and representative, Congressman Eric Sorensen! 🗳️🇺🇸

Working families, seniors, and rural neighbors deserve a voice on the McLean County Board that will stand up for them, lower the property tax burden, and deliver the mental health and recovery resources our community so urgently needs.

"I’m proud to endorse my friend and McLean County neighbor Rick Perez Jr. in his run to be the next McLean County Board Member for District 3. Rick will be a champion for rural families and working people, fighting tirelessly to lower property taxes and bring affordable mental health and addiction recovery services to those who need them.
In these stormy times, we need leaders in office who will do what’s right — and Rick Perez Jr. is that leader. I encourage you to join me in supporting him on Election Day."
— Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17)

Thank you, Congressman Sorensen! Together, we can build a stronger, more supportive McLean County.
📍 Election Day is November 3! Make your plan to vote for Rick Perez Jr. for McLean County Board District 3.

One thing I am very passionate about is advocacy! Coming to NIU, I wasn’t sure what career I wanted to pursue and I even changed my major 3 times, but one thing I always knew was my passion for helping others! Going to programs and conferences such as POWER (hosted at niu) and the Raices Conference (shown in this picture) made me realize that I can turn my passion for advocacy into a career! 🫂

Being a latina in this field makes me even more proud and determined because I want to be the voice for my community especially with the community being heavily impacted by the current administration!

The inhumane ICE actions and constant discrimination my community faces hurts my heart but seeing us still celebrate our culture, come together as a community and seeing so many latinos continue our education reminds me that we are resilient and won’t stop advocating for what’s right.

This is me in front of the Illinois State Capitol while attending NIU Advocacy day in 2024!

I truly loved this experience and it inspired me even more to pursue politics, I understood here that my voice is my power and it is amplified when we all come together! I was able to speak to my representatives on why higher education is important and my experience as a first generation student attending university.

This past April I was honored to attend Lambda Hill Days which is a political initiative hosted by my sorority where members go to Washington D.C. to talk to their representatives about an issue that is important to them!

This experience was very special to me because it was what interested me even more into becoming a sister and i’m forever grateful I had the opportunity of going! 🩶 It helped me realize my voice matters and advocacy can be done in so many ways!

My first representative I talked to was Eric Sorensen! He is my representative in my district (17) and he is actually an NIU alumni which I had found out there! I was able to speak to his staff about undocumented student’s education and the importance of accessiblity! 🫰🏻

This was my one pager on what topics I discussed with my senators/representatives!

Higher ed is super important to me because it is a form of resilien

While I don't live in Illinois, federal representation for Central and Northwestern Illinois requires a leader who brings genuine scientific literacy and community trust to Washington rather than partisan noise. That is why I am backing Eric Sorensen.

Eric brings a uniquely grounded background to the House, shaped by more than two decades serving as a local television meteorologist across Rockford and the Quad Cities. Rather than relying on standard political theater, his career has centered on communicating complex facts clearly, keeping people safe during severe weather, and building deep roots in the region.

In Congress, he has translated that practical perspective into his work on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Armed Services Committee, fighting for family farms, regional manufacturing, and science-driven infrastructure investments.

Key pillars of his focus include:

Agricultural & Rural Support: Advocating for Illinois producers and rural communities through his work on the House Agriculture Committee.

Clean Energy & Economic Resilience: Championing sustainable jobs and modern infrastructure tailored to the needs of Central and Northwestern Illinois.

National Security & Local Defense: Securing key priorities for regional defense assets like the Rock Island Arsenal and Peoria Air National Guard Base.

IL-17 needs a trusted neighbor who prioritizes practical solutions over political posturing. Check out the Representative Eric Sorensen Official House Website to learn more about his legislative platform.
