Celebrate the small wins👇🏼

You head out for a normal Sunday run, feeling good, the legs are moving, and suddenly you’re running faster than you planned.

One kilometer turns into two. Two turns into three. Then you realize you’re on pace for a 5K PB.

Sometimes the best performances happen when you’re not obsessing over the clock. But don’t confuse a spontaneous fast run with a training strategy.

If you want to get faster at the 5K, focus on the fundamentals:

🏃‍♂️ Build your aerobic base with consistent easy mileage.

⚡ Add quality workouts like intervals and threshold sessions to improve your speed and endurance.

🧠 Learn to pace yourself so you don’t burn out in the first kilometer.

😴 Recover properly so you can actually absorb your training.

📈 Stay consistent instead of trying to set a personal best every time you run.

And remember, your easy days should still be easy. A surprise PB is exciting, but you don’t need to turn every Sunday run into a race.

I’ve run 9 marathons, all PBs, with a 2:48 personal best, learning through years of trial and error and refining what worked with high level coaches.

“If your goals don’t scare you, they’re too small.”

Growing up, I always backed out when something scared me. Now, I’m making it my goal in life to do the opposite: to keep trying, even when it terrifies me.

Today, I’m proud of myself. I raced this marathon all out, left everything out there, and proved to myself once again what happens when you dare to go beyond your comfort zone.

The journey to getting faster continues. More work to do, more limits to break. 🫡

Balance and coordination aren’t just things to think about later in life. They’re things we should be training now.

Coach @ericinmotion_ talks about why keeping balance and coordination in your routine becomes increasingly important as we get older.

Strength matters. Mobility matters. But being able to control your body, react quickly, stay stable and move confidently matters too.

And like anything else, it’s something we can train.

His recommendation? Don’t wait until balance becomes a problem to start working on it. Incorporate it into the way you move and train now.

Because training isn’t only about what your body can do today. It’s about protecting what you want your body to still be able to do years from now.
