I’ve been feeling a deep sense of love and appreciation for the NYC dance community lately.

I can remember when I first moved to the city and was taking classes stuck in loneliness and comparison. How I would be envious of those who seemed to know everyone in the room and had everything figured out from mental health to their resume and their pirouettes.

I’m still practicing ways to manage my mental health, I definitely don’t know everyone because #dancersover30 and getting that clean triple happens when she wants to. I still make mistakes. I’m human.

But actively choosing to step into spaces searching for connection and inspiration rather comparison and separation has changed everything in the way I dance, train and show up in my daily life.

I’m especially grateful for classes like Billy’s where these practices are not only invited in but encouraged to try on for size.

You can’t hate yourself into evolution.

“Let time be patient… Let pain be gracious….”

Assisting Galen at these two SOLD OUT Masterclasses at BDC was a dream come true. I used to spend countless hours watching choreography videos from MDC of her work and several others; always blown away by the quality of work and the way the dancers in front of the lens uniquely connected to the story and the movement. Today I was that dancer trusted to guide the room through the creators work. To say I’m grateful for her continued support, guidance and pushing me as a dancer is an understatement. Big love always.
