Happy early 20th anniversary to #looneytunesbackinaction for November 14th, 2023. Directed by #joedante - this hybrid picture is noteworthy of being a production nightmare where the crew was given less creative freedom, many sequences had to be edited or deleted, warner feature animation was on the verge of closing down, and sadly it became a box office failure due to competition with Elf, Master and Commander: The far side of the world, and especially the Haunted Mansion. Because of that circumstance, it left the looney tunes franchise to be ignored throughout the 2000s decade. On the plus side, it went okay with the critics and animation fans on top of agreeing it’s far better than Space Jam!! As for my thoughts, it’s a decent yet fun experience. Yes, the story doesn’t have a consistent narrative and the humor is a mix bag. But everything else in that picture is great, the voice acting is strong, the animation direction lead by #ericgoldberg is visual eye candy, the personalities of each legacy character is present, and both the late #jerrygoldsmith to @johndebney outdone themselves on the score!!! #warnerbrospicturesanimation ⚙️🛠️🧨🎇🏜️🛸

Start your engines because we made it to 10 years of @dreamworks 2nd movie from 2013 #turbo for July 17th, 2023!! Directed by @david_soren - this film unfortunately had a bit of a detour on it’s initial release. You see when the film premiered in mid July of 2013, it made very little at the box office and critics were very mixed on how the film shared too many similarities to Cars, a bug’s life and Ratatouille. However, it actually went swell for international audiences who saw it and eventually gathered its own cult following. I was very lucky to watch the film in theaters (that being July 19th) with my dad and we loved it so much. Even with the similarities, the film stands well of maintaining an engaging story, memorable characters, solid voice acting, impressive visuals, intense racing scenes, and #henryjackman powerful score!!! With that said, here I present a sketch of the entire snail racing team!!! #dreamworksanimation 🐌🐌🐌🐌🏎️🏁🌮💅🎧💜

**I’M SPEAKING ON A PANEL THIS SATURDAY (10/15)**

This weekend is #LBX2022 in Pasadena, CA. On Saturday, I will be moderating a panel with fellow #ADG veteran illustrators Phil Saunders, Eric Ramsey, and Sean Hargreaves titled: TALES FROM THE FRONT LINES: ADG VETERAN ILLUSTRATORS TALK ABOUT FLEXIBILITY AND LEARNING TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN YOUR CAREER. The panel will be in Room 208 from (1:20pm-2:20pm). For more info you can click here: https://2022.lightboxexpo.com/guest/benton-jew/

Come here four of us longtime veterans of the industry, who began our careers from a variety of backgrounds, discuss the changing nature of the industry. Subject matter, budgets, working methods, and other aspects of the creative process always seem to be in flux - so how does an artist stay relevant and have a long career? You'll hear what we have done to adapt, change and evolve in order to stay on the leading edge of the film industry. We will also take questions from the audience.

Additionally the #ArtDirectorsGuild #IATSE #Local800 will also have two other panels at the event, which immediately follow this panel. And on Sunday (10/16) I will be at the #ADG booth #1402 from (Noon-2pm). COME OUT AND JOIN US!

It was such an amazing honor to be a part of this. @stlmarlonwest! Was looking to pay homage to the historical photo “A Great Day in Harlem” which was highlighting 57 jazz musicians in 50’s, by highlighting 54 black artists in animation. Thanks for inviting me to be a part of this Marlon. 🖤
